Sea Conditions

Greetings--cruising the Island Princess from Los Angeles to Hawaii March 27th, 2007

Curious as to what "Normal" sea conditions are during that time of the year.

We did this cruise the past March and the first couple of days were cool, cloudy and the water was a little rough. We expected this so we weren't surprised. As we got closer to the islands things improved. Just before our visit, Hawaii had been getting very heavy rains and we did miss a couple of excursions as a result of that but all in all the weather wasn't bad. We still had a great time and are considering doing it again.

We did that cruise at the beginning of April the year before last. As with the above poster, we had about a day and a half of cool weather and rougher seas, but then it just smoothed out, and got warmer each day. It was lovely while we were in Hawaii, and we didn't miss any ports. We had rain in Hilo, but I hear that it often rains in Hilo. We rented a car and drove up to the volcano, and it didn't really matter if it was raining or not. When we left Kauai, our last port in Hawaii, the water was rough..........the weather was warm, but they did close the pool one evening, until about noon the next day, as water was sloshing all over the place. The rest of the way home, we would hit patches of swells for a couple of hours every once in awhile, but it was mostly fine, and pretty smooth. Everyone had their sea legs by then, so there were no problems.

I hope you have a a wonderful cruise............it has been our very favorite! All the sea days are wonderful...........and 15 days was heavenly. I sure didn't want to get off of that ship............ :)
