Update on expired driver's license

I could not find my original post so I thought since we just got home from our cruise today that I would post what happened. My husband D.L. expired so on Friday September 1 the day before our cruise I made my husband go and attempt to get an Alabama D.L. Let me first say I have not really every looked good at my husbands birth certificate. I know he has used it to go on NCL, RCCL, Carnival and Disney. Well when you go to get an D.L. in Alabama from another state you have to have your official birth certificate. Well, what we had was the mothers copy you get in the hospital and it wasn;t even the real one. It was a notarized copy of the mothers certificate. The one you get at the hospital with the feet prints on it. I could not believe it. So here we are the day before we leave, we do not have the real birth certificate or a valid D.L. for my husband. We have gone on so many cruises with this certificate.

Long story short they accepted both, we went on the cruise and had a good time. As soon as I got home I ordered his official birth certificate. When we checked in at the pier they only glanced at the Drivers License and the "birth certificate" and then getting off the ship in customs same thing. I am glad that we got to go on our cruise but feel bad that we really did not have anything legitimate to get on the ship and they still let us go.

I'm glad everything worked out for you. I know that had to be very stressful finding out the BC wasn't as it should be. If you have time please post a review of your cruise. :)

you might want to consider the process of getting passports, since they are going to be required in the future. the date keeps changing, but its going to come to that.
