Live from the Pride !!!

I should have my head examined! *tears welling up* I don't wanna go to Canada!

I usually reserve that statement for frosty winter mornings...when I wake in the dark, and have to trudge out in the deep snow to go to work! Oh wait a minute that's when we Canadians book our cruises south! LOL

I hope you get your wish...but if it's any consulation I hear Vancouver is really lovely this time of year.

Pride Day 7 Sea Day

Last night was rock and roll as the Pride was cruising at 21 knots, even the Balcony partition door came loose and

was swinging back and forth keeping Wendy up all night.

We woke up around 9:30am this morning and headed up to Lido Deck for some good breakfast. Wendy had an Omlette with

Ham, Onions and Cheese, Fruit Loops and a bagel. I had 3 eggs over medium with bacon and sausages and french toast.

2 cups of Passion juice.

At 10:30pm we headed over to look for our Photos from Last nights Formal night. We also moved Shaylas Tips from her

Sail & Sign account over to our account. We are using our SeaMiles Credit Card and we get Double points when used

on Carnival, so every bit counts.

11am the Debarkation Debrief is held now so we are here in the Theater.

So far this cruise has been Wonderful, The Pride is a beautiful clean ship and with great staff onboard. Great

Service all around. Nothing has changed since last year. Even the ventilation system seems to be working ok, or

there are less smokers onboard.

Last night on Formal night in the Dining room, someone dressed up like Santa Claus. Yes I took the pictures, this

will beat Jeans on Formal night any day of the week.

Im currently posting this from the Theater as you can get low Wifi from the Internet cafe.

Ladycaveat, to me the Best Excursion to do in P.V. is Rhythms of the Night, this one you shouldn't miss. Its a beautiful place called Las Caletas, they serve up a very good romantic Dinner with great drinks, its all included. then a wonderful show in the dark. I will post their website when I return, they have a video you can see on it.

SmooCruise, Looks like Hurricane Lane will be heading inland so you should be ok for next weeks cruise. The Captain seems to be eating in the dining room everynight, if I see him tonight I will ask him about next weeks sail.

Martin 5, these movies are not PPV, they play different movies everyday for free on channels 32,33,34. Todays movies are Big Mamma's house 2, and 2 others, forgot which ones. They do have PPV movies, all types and Adults.

Farmers Wife, this will be my review since I like posting live while everything is still fresh in my mind. So no reviews when I return but Look for all of my new Threads like "Lobster Night" or "Galley Tour" these all include pictures.

As of now we are cruising around 18 knots so its less bumpier and there is hardly and swells out there.

One thing I forgot to Mention was the Chocolate buffet, its not posted in todays Capers so I will have to go down and ask.

My apologies Dansu. I'm sure Canada is very pretty. I did not mean it as an affront againt your homeland. It's just hard not knowing whether to pack for hot or cooler weather. Plus I have already paid for shore excursions in Mexico. But I'll roll with whatever the plans are and just try and enjoy myself no matter where we go! ;)

Thanks Fred. I am keeping a positive state of mind about things. We're going cruising no matter what! It's like a big adventure. Sailing off into ports unknown....... But if the captain has info it would be most appreciated. I called Carnival. But I'm sure they won't make any announcements until the last minute.

Thanks Wennfred, I will be looking forward to the the pics.

LadyCaveat, We haven't booked the zip lines either but I have heard if you go through Los Veranos, they offer you to go along for 20 bucks if you don't want to do the zip lines. Apparently they have a nice restaurant (with margaritas) where you can stay while your family is doing the lines. There is nice stream nearby etc...even a bit of trinket shopping. I am thinking I might do this as the lines are not for me either. I wouldn't mind hanging out with you for some chips n salsa and margaritas while our dare devils seek adventure. :)

Smoocruise and all other cruisers leaving Sunday...I have my powerful pixie dust flying your way that you won't be seeing Canada anytime soon. :D

Sounds good Kim . . . I'm always up for a frozen margarita (or two) . . . :D

Sounds good, now all I have to do is book it. I am not booking any excursions until we make final payment...the day it all becomes even more of a reality with no turning back. hehe. So all we have to do is co-ordinate sometime after October 24th. Send me an email or I will do the same when the time nears. :)

Kim, just went to Los Veranos' web site to book the Canopy zip line tour for my son and the transportation for me to watch him hopefully not break his neck . . . Need to know . . . which tour is your family thinking about taking? They say if on a cruise ship, to book after eleven. Each tour is four hours and they have one at eleven, twelve, one and two. I was thinking about the one at noon . . . what say you? We don't leave port until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10th. Tammy

I went on a canopy tour when we were in Jamaica for our honeymoon. It was SO much fun! I was a little worried that you would be so high up and just be asked to run and jump off. Yikes! But it wasn't like that at all. You are attached to the cable by two lines. One you are actually swinging from, and the other is just a safety in case something happens to the first. It feels really secure when they hook you up! You do a mild hike to get to each of the different platforms. It's not strenuous at all. When you get to the platform and go to walk off, it's not a cliff. It's the side of the hill, so it gradually gets steeper. It was so much fun. I would do it again in a heart beat. Everyone on our tour seemed to love it, and there were some that were real scaredy cats. But once the first one was over, you got over that. They usually make the first one really short and easy so you can gage what you're getting yourself into. I say definitely give it a try. The last line that we did was the length of three football fields, and you ended up being up pretty high. I want to say about 11 stories, but it might have been more. I know you are going about 35 miles per hour. They said that that was the longest/fastest zip line. It really didn't feel that fast. I put my camera on video mode and hung it around my neck right before they pushed me off. Mostly it is just my feet, but it's a pretty cool video. They also take really good pictures of you that you can buy. I recommend getting them. Our pictures didn't turn out nearly as well.

Scrapbooker, I just emailed your post to my son. You make it sound so good that I'm tempted to try it myself . . . :p Unfortunately, I was in a car accident last year and they say that anyone with shoulder problems shouldn't take the tour. I feel fantastic now but would not want to go back to where I was . . . with my arm in a sling . . . :( Thank you so much for telling us about your experience on a Canopy zip line trip.

Kim . . . where are you? Wish I had your email address . . . .

Fred, welcome home.Thank you for your daily log. You are a great person for taking time on your cruise to keep all of us CC'ers updated on your adventures, and for us that will be on the Pride soon, great insight on what to look forward to. One thing I feel bad about is the time seemed to go by so quick. However does'nt it always fly by on vacation? Again, Thank You

Thanks everyone, We are home. We got up this morning around 6am, we had room service breakfast and was off the ship by 7:45am, We disembarked with the VIP's from Carnival Vacation Club. There were like 30 new Carnival Vacation Club Members that got the membership.

The wierd thing was that last night when our Cabin Steward cleaned our cabin, she took the Pride books and the Green Info book with the Phone numbers and the Room Service menu and she also forgot to leave those Breakfast menu you check and leave at the door, I had to go to the Pursers Desk to request some.

Last night, out last Supper at the dining room there was a Fight !!! , Luckly all the Men around that table stood up and broke it up. This piece of crap guy was pretty drunk. Not sure if Security took him out of the dining room.

I didn't attend the last show which was the Legends show. I have seen this show a few times already.

Important info:

Wendy and Shayla got sick, not sure from what, could of been the Mosquito bites in P.V. while doing the Dolphin Swim. They didn't eat there but did eat at Randys in Mazatlan the next day. I went with them to Las Caletas to see the Rythms of the Night show that night and I ate with them and didnt get Sick so I know its not from there. I think its from the Mosquito Bites in P.V. the first port day. Wendy will go to urgent care tomorrow to get a check up. Stomach flu symptoms. I am ok. I didnt leave the Ship in P.V. but did go to the night show in Mazatlan the next night and didn't get not one mosquito bite. Wendy and I didnt leave the ship in Cabo. I had alot to eat while onboard but always ensure to keep my hands cleaned.

Saturday Sea Day

No Chocolate Buffet on this Cruise, I asked around and the staff and crew looked at me like I was clueless. They told me it was last night during the Gala Buffet. Maybe next April on the Spirit they will have on.

There was a Matinee Comedy Show at 4PM Saturday. This was something new for me so I went to check it out. It was Comedian JeROME, he did a 45 minute standup, more of a Family show and he was pretty good.

Saturdays last sea day Drink Special was Ultimate Suntan. 3.50 and 6.75

Channes on the Pride this week are CNN, CNN International (Great Weather source), TNT, Cartoon Network, CBS, NBC and on some ocasions ABC. 3 Movie channels, 3 Music Channels and you GPS map and about 5 Carnival Channels.

I found out some Interesting facts from the Crew.

1. They are currently looking for Volunteers to work the Freedom. No crew member wants to transfer to the any new ship because they will be under the Microscope, thats where all of the Big Wigs will be. After the Volunteers the rest will be hired off from vacation because they will need well rested people to activate a new cruise ship. I told my Head Waiter last night "See ya on the Freedom" he said Nooo Nooo Nooo Nooo LOL.

2. They say you start in the Mail room. As for the Waiter, they all start in the Staffs or Crews Dining room, then Room Service, then Lido Deck, then they go on a 1 month Carnival Dining room school, from there they finally get to work the Dining room. Take on an average around 7 to 10 years to become a head waiter. From asking around, no one wants to be a Maitre'd, they are all happy being a Head Waiter.

We were on this cruise as well. This was my first Carnival cruise and I think we've decided Carnival isn't the line for us. We'll go back to our old favorite or maybe give Royal Carribean a try. There were lots of little things that just added up to make it not quite the right fit for us. I won't go into specifics since it's all really just a matter of opinion, but I did want to mention one thing.

If you hope to have any of your Sunday free, consider the self-assist option. While it's true that the VIPs and Vacation Club members get to disembark first, everyone else is pretty much left to the "call your color" method. We happened to be mid-ship, Deck 5 and ended up being one of the last groups called. We finished breakfast at 8:30am and we weren't called to disembark until after noon. By the time we were gathering out luggage, it was 12:30pm.... 4 hours of waiting to be let off the ship.

Thanks to all for the information I was able to gather before our trip. Hope everyone enjoys their upcoming cruises :)
