walkerccst Posted September 14, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Just wondering--does anyone happen to have the recipe for the Bitter and Blanc Pudding? That is by far my favorite Carnival dessert! I have tried to make it, but it never turns out exactly right.
MaryAnn261 Posted September 14, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 14, 2006 OH NO... what happened to the flourless choc cake? That was always my favorite. Doesn't Carnival do that anymore????

elizablake Posted September 14, 2006 #14 Share Posted September 14, 2006 OH NO... what happened to the flourless choc cake? That was always my favorite. Doesn't Carnival do that anymore???? I think each ship may have a slightly different menu. I had baked alaska, black forest cake and key lime pie on my 4-night cruise a few weeks ago. I didn't see any of them on the 7-night menu. BTW, the key lime pie was awesome and the presentation was beautiful too.
Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted September 19, 2006 #15 Share Posted September 19, 2006 Now that the menus have been so graciously posted (thanks) maybe as we try the different dessert items we can comment on them. For instance the last day Roasted Pineapple sounds intriguing- would like more info on that. etc..
sotadragon Posted September 19, 2006 #16 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I think each ship may have a slightly different menu... Actually, the menu is fleet-wide, BUT... the chef can substitute/change without notice (as far as I know).
sotadragon Posted September 19, 2006 #17 Share Posted September 19, 2006 Now that the menus have been so graciously posted (thanks) maybe as we try the different dessert items we can comment on them... I have had the Tiramisu. It was very different from any Tiramisu I've had before (Olive Garden, Ciao Bella, etc.), but very good. It is not a "solid" NY cheesecake-like texture on Carnival, more like a pudding texture. Can't remember if I've had any of the others listed... but the Tiramisu definitely made an impression... a good impression! :)

Tried the Lavender Flavored Iced Souffle and it really had the taste of lavender. Didn't care for it. Day 2 Tiramasu. which isn't a traditional Tiiramasu (layered), but heavenly just the same. Day 3 Rasberry Verbena Creme Brulee, which was very good, but needed more carmelization on top. Day 4 Bitter and Blanc, loved the combination. Day 5 Chestnut Napolean on Mandarin Jus, great flavor and very light. BTW, the basil ice cream did taste like basil, strange combination of flavor and texture. Day 6 Carmalized apples on puff pastry, one of my favorites. Day 7 Grand Marnier Souffle with vanilla sauce, just wouldn't be a cruise without my Grand Marnier Souffle. I really enjoyed the new dessert menu, especially now that they offer many selections that aren't centered around chocolate. I know I"m in the minority, but I'm not a big chocolate fan, so I was happy to see alot of different options.
bthorn1108 Posted September 20, 2006 #21 Share Posted September 20, 2006 As opposed to "Olive Garden" (a sub of Red Lobster) the ship made it correctly....;) I have had Tiramasu while visiting Little Italy in New York City and it was nothing like what they served on Carnival. Not that I didn't like the Carnival version, but I thought true Italian Tiramasu was more like a layered cake.
Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted September 20, 2006 #22 Share Posted September 20, 2006 that's a great rundown on desserts -keep em coming Now if someone knew about that Roasted Pineapple dessert day 7 Also wasn't there a posting of Baked Alaska or is that no longer valid? I don't care if they don't flame anymore, but loved the taste.

Not that I didn't like the Carnival version, but I thought true Italian Tiramasu was more like a layered cake. That's true, traditional Tiramisu is like a layered cake with ladyfingers soaked in espresso topped with mascarpone-zabaglione cream and cocoa powder. Also, it is not a very "old" desert. Giuseppe Maffioli wrote in an article in 1981: “Tiramisu’ was born recently, just 10 years ago in the town of Treviso. It was proposed for the first time in the restaurant Le Beccherie. The dessert and its name became immediately extremely popular, and this cake and the name were copied by many restaurants first in Treviso then all around Italy”. gatrbait Posted September 21, 2006 #24 Share Posted September 21, 2006 Yummo!!!! It was the best desert I had...it was a large slice of pineapple grilled (had grill marks) with a vanilla carmel yogurt sauce on it...it was served cold but still very very yummy!! Just a note I was on a 5 day (recent) and our desert menu was different than what has been posted...I had a guava napolean the first night and that had to be the second runner up as far as deserts go in my book...I had the apple deal too very good...the Key Lime Pie was a weird version but being from FL I am a bit of a Key Lime snob (please forgive me). Enjoy!! M
Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted September 21, 2006 #25 Share Posted September 21, 2006 Yummo huh? Must be watching Rachel Ray :D Glad to hear on pineapple, thanks for post.
