brian_uk Posted September 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2006 The itinerary looks interesting for September 2007......Have enjoyed HAL in the past but can anyone give any insight to this routing. Are the stops interesting (included Boston, Quebec City) and will we be close enough en route to seethe Fall Colours at the end of September. Darrell6t Posted September 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2006 The ports are quite interesting. Quebec City is a marvelous place and the ship should dock right in town. Sydney, NS is not much of a toen, but there are good excursions that start there. As to the Fall color, that is unknown. The leaves change on their own schedule and it is not controlled by the calendar. If you are lucky, you will see a lot of color.
grannynurse Posted September 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Brian, We did the NY to Montreal cruise on the Rotterdam and the Montreal to Boston on the Maasdam. We love sailing out of NY, especially passing the Statue of Liberty. This routing was a 10 day in late May 2002. The ports are great; sailing the Saguanay Fjords is beautiful, and the area is very historic if you're interested in Revolutionary war history. The only thing I didn't like was the airport in Montreal and the Canadian departure taxes, not that they are that high, just inconvenient. The reverse trip last year was a 7 day and I liked the southbound itinerary as we spent several days post cruise in the New England area and flew home from Manchester NH. It'll be a lovely cruise for the fall and I'm sure you'll see fall foliage somewhere along the way. We like the north Altantic and Canadian Maritime ports much better than the Caribbean. Bar Harbor Cadillac Mt. and lobster bake is a wonderful shorex, as is the Bras D'Or lake sail in Sydney NS. All the port, IMO have alot to offer. Have fun planning, GN
