AMICUS Posted September 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2006  Has anyone had experience with using the shipboard telephones for calls either as a straight call or as part of a conference call while "at sea" on the Inside Passage on an Alaskan cruise? "Dam" work will intrude on the Volendam on it's last trip to Alaska next week. I need to make arrangements to be "reachable" for a while and expect there will be gaps in the cellphone coverage. dakrewser Posted September 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2006 There'll be quite large caps in cell phone coverage, but using the in-cabin phone ties you to your stateroom. Consider renting a satellite phone so that you maintain mobility. Satellite phone rates are also a tad lower than in-cabin phone rates.
