Upper Prom. Staircase?

If you look towards the stern of the upper prom deck it looks like there is a strange staircase to the lower dining room. Is that correct? Or is it a staircase only for the staff? Just wondering since my room is near there. THanks!

You didn't specify which ship, but I'm assuming you mean an 'S' class such as Maasdam, Ryndam, Statendam or Veendam. The staircase is very odd - it's 4 decks high and serves no purpose that I can see unless used by staff but it's accessible by passengers. You can get to it from Verandah deck and take it down to lower promenade. We stumbled on it by accident one day. It has a great view because it's all glass enclosed. Try it - it's fun!
