Whale Watching Questions

I have two questions as we continue to wrestle with our decisions about Dominica...

 

What's the best time of day for whale watching, morning vs. afternoon?

 

Is there a lot of 'hurry up and wait' involved? I like to be active on vacation, but I can enjoy watching and waiting if I have fair warning. Too much of it, though, and I will be worrying over wasting precious hours that could have been spent seeing more of Dominica.

I don't think it matters too much whether you take an AM or PM tour. There would be no way to predict how much waiting is involved; we found the whales fairly quickly, but I would imagine that it varies a lot from trip to trip.

Isn't whale-watching seasonal? OMG- I would love to see a whale. I guess I had best get busy and do some research on excursions instead of shopping. Our departure date is 10/31, which will be here before I know it.

I've read that the whale watching is great in November, so you'll probably have a lot of luck!

We are going on 10/8 (next week) and we're doing the tour through the ship (Carnival Destiny).

I'll let you know what we see when we get back!

So it is year round? Of course, Nov is fine with us, since that's when we will be there.
