welove2cruise* Posted September 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2006 I was reading the Must buy shopping thread and began to wonder if the onboard shops (Splendour in particular) were stocked with items from the areas you are visiting, and how the prices compare to the shops in ports. Host Karen Posted September 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2006 I don't know which ship you'll be sailing, but as I recall, the shops on Brilliance in the Med sold the same merchandise offered when she sailed the Caribbean.
Italian cruise man Posted September 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2006 On Costa ships they sold product of the places you've visited in that day...for example, when i was in greece they make special offers to Greek's typical objects, when i was in Turkey or in Tunisia they sold Arabic objects.... missyal Posted September 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2006 On our last Med. cruise which was on Celebrity, they did have regional things. For example, they had quite a bit of Murano glass which is made in Venice, there was Italian nougat candy, Italian leather wallets and gloves, Fragonard perfume from France, and of course--gold! I thought the prices were comparable and there was no vat tax. Missyal
