Balcony - dinner or breakfast and Steak/Italian premium dining

Hi,

Doing some reserach this afternoon on what's available on our Caribbean Princess cruise in December ... Read about the Ultimate

Balcony Dinner and the Balcony Breakfast ... has anyone done experienced one of these?

If so, were they worth the cost? How was it having a waiter come in and out of your cabin? How was the food? Did you like the Dinner or Breakfast...or both?? Would your recommend this or making a reservation at their premium dining spots (steak / italian)?

Are the balcony meals something you can book in advance, or once you're on board? Do you need to book the first day on board?

For the steak house / Italian premium dining ... do you need to reserve first afternoon on board? Opinion of the dining experince?

Thanks!!

Peggy

We did the balcony breakfast and it was $25 per couple. There is a ton of food including melon filled with strawberries and whipped cream, pastries and bagles, coffee, juice, crab legs, crab quiche, lox with the fixins and a split of champagne. We enjoyed it but if you don't like crab or lox then I would bypass the breakfast. I don't know if they will accept substitutions but we liked everything on the menu. Keep in mind there is a LOT of food and we are both big eaters. They serve it all at once unlike the dinner. I'm looking forward to doing that again.:)

We did the breakfast last year on the Caribbean and have decided to do it again next month on the Crown. We got juice, champagne, the fruit bowl, TONS of baked goods, lox and a quiche Lorraine. It was all brought at once vs. a waiter coming in with every course as they do with the dinner. We really enjoyed it. Yes, they will accept substitutions as long as you remember to tell them what you would prefer when you order. (Our friends had it the same morning we did and they don’t care for bacon – which is in the quiche so they asked for omelets and Princess had no problem with it.) You do want to order that as soon as possible as they only do so many a morning.

As for the Italian and steak restaurants, yes – you should make a reservation for the night and time you would like to go when you first get on the ship. That way you are sure to get your first choice.
