On glory it states don't use your s&s card. If you loose it, and someone knows your room number, they could go in and get in your safe and rob you blind. Use credit card, or drivers liscens. If you trust carrying around your credit card.

Sorry:confused: .....but I am not quite sure exactly what you mean? What is it that we have all been advised to do? ( do you mean use the S&S card ? ) or do you mean take the advice of the experienced cruisers on this board? I'm sooooo confused?:o

I will call them back once I am "clear" on what it is I am asking them?

Thanks for your advice.

Smiles, C.:D

You can use ANY card with a magnetic strip !

The safe does not care which card you use.

If you have ever self-swiped your credit card at a store, it will be EXACTLY the same process except the slot is horizontal, not vertical.

Come On folks, this is just not that confusing.

Remember, ANY card you want to use !

Destiny and Triumph class ships have the hair dryer hanging on the wall in the bathroom.

I use an old store gift card for the safe.

Thanks for the Picture, I like that color bathroom, I dont like the Green and Blue ones. Thats the first time I have seen that color.

I tried to use an old Hotel Room key, but it would not work? Are those strips on the back not magnetic strips? :o

They are but the Hotel Room Keys are a wierd shape and maybe the Magnetic strip behind them dont reach the reader.

The PVP you called said to use the Sail & Sign Card, many people on this board said not to use the Sail & Sign card because it can be demagnetized. Thats why I don't use mine. I use anything else but the Sail and Sign card.

I'm not doubting you, but I'm a tad confused. If the S & S card can be demagnetized, couldn't your expired McDonalds or Walmart card do the same? I like the ones where you punch in numbers.

No, what they meant was that if your S & S card is demagnetized because it will be used throughout the ship, you won't be able to get back into to your cabin, unable to use it to ring up drinks at the bar or buy things at the gift shop and mainly to get back into your safe. If it did get Demagnetized then you will need to get your card replaced at the Pursers office. Instead use an old McDonalds/Walmarts expired card for the safe only. My Drivers License didnt work well, I then used Wendy's License and the Safe opened and closed like charm.
