Am I worrying too much about the attire?

Dh & i are the same pretty much casual people. We really enjoyed formal night on our imagination cruise.... this past february. But the dress during the day time was pretty casual. Bathing suits, shorts, flip flops, & stuff like that the regular nights in the DINING ROOM was kind of business casual. Polo shirts, short sleeve shirts, khaki pants, capri pants, some people wore jeans & except for few not many people wore shorts in the DINING ROOM i think you are totally prepared for your cruise. Enjoy & don't stress out..... remember on carnival there are a million ways 2 have fun.....

Everytime i see the comercial i get gitty.... 17 more days till valor!!!!!!

7 nighter: Men- polo shirts, couple pair of khaki slacks, suit, 2 dress shirts, 2 ties, the rest shorts & t shirts, swimsuit

women- couple pair of slacks &/or capris, couple blouses, 2 dresses, t shirts, shorts, swimsuit

We do not and never have done tux or gowns. Just a nice suit, which is worn twice with different shirts and ties & 2 dresses.

Plus, we eat each night at the dining room....I can eat a buffets at home and enjoy dining room experience.

I have 4 (7,10,12,13). It's not that big a deal.

My DD (11 at the time) didn't want any part of the "fancy" dining room. I forced her to eat there with us one night. The rest of the time she ate with Camp Carnival. They catered a meal to them. :)

This is our first cruise too, and I have been a shopping fool.

I did purchase two after five evening dresses, one full length and one tea length. My husband WILL be wearing a tuxedo on both formal nights but this is my wish, as I am looking so forward to getting all dressed up in my new finery, and the second formal evening is also our Anniversary.

I have purchased new dresses to wear to dinner too and new shorts, shirts, shoes, swim suits, sun dresses etc. In most circumstances, I probably wouldn't have gone so overboard on clothing, but since I have lost over 90 pounds within the last year, I really don't have anything to wear.

Ok, now here ya go...:) no one on the planet could have packed more than I did on my first cruise!! I brought 19 pairs of shoes alone!! The rest of my outfits accordingly...My DH was so exhausted luggin' all MY 4 BIG suitcases around! (he laughed) Even the crew, cabbies, etc. were all wondering if I was to be gone for a year!!:D They said they'd never seen anything like it!!

I only wore 4 pairs of shoes, and 1/8-1/4 of the crap I brought. It was ridiculous!! So...relax, everyone dresses like what you would see at any other resort vacation, casual days, dressy, but only as dressy as you choose to be on formal night, (depending on what you do/eat) nice slacks/top, glittery top, or dress, etc. on the FORMAL nights, on other nights, act like you are going to any nicer chain restaurant on land. As far as the kids go, whatever you would put them in to take them to a nice dinner at home, they can wear on the ship...beleive me I WAYYYYYY overprocessed this, and the consequence was me luggin, tons of stuff around. Have fun, sit back and relaaaaaax.:) I have learned my lesson!

Oh and men all wear a simple suit/tie, or tux if you want to go for that, but most men were in suit/tie, business dress...

CONGRATULATIONS! :) That's a lot to lose and I know it's not easy (been there, done that, and back to the beginning). You not only need the new wardrobe, you deserve it! Have a great cruise! :D

To the OP - I agree with most here, you will be fine with the clothing you're planning to take with you. Go and have a great time! :D

Take what you have and go enjoy!!! You are all set for formal night. The other nights.... just enjoy the buffet or pizza or grill or whatever is available. Stay at the pool and relax and have fun! You are worrying too much about it and you will realize that the minute you get on the ship.

HeHe...funny you say that, my parents were at our house watching our kids and my Mom walked into our closet and she said to my Dad, "come look at this, Lysa has no clothes left"! It was a riot, we will laugh about it for years!! I now know to pack "light":)

I would take just a nice pair of slacks just in case you change your mind about the dining room. You can put them on for the two hours for dinner and then change back to shorts after if you like. They should last thru your cruise if you don't spill anything on them!

Also Disney did just relax their dress code about 6 months ago and now allow jeans in the dining room for dinner except on formal nights.

Congrats!

I am down 75 from my heaviest, and even today, I am looking at a new shirt that I am wearing and realizing that it is too big now. :( That is the one downfall of weight loss...money loss on new clothes! But hey, shopping is a heck of a lot more fun now! I even had to get new shoes...my shoe size changed completely!

Enjoy the new duds!

I'm not one to get too upset about what others wear--good or bad. I do expect to follow the dress code as in not shorts/t shirts at dinner. So, I never paid much attention to what others wore, unless it was obvious! This past cruise, I tried to keep an eye out for jeans in the dining room & smoking.....mainly bcs everyone gets so riled up on this board regarding the subjects.

The smoking was not bad at all, saw it a few times in the casino and of course in the cigar lounge. The only time I saw jeans (and I saw several pair that night) was the last night on-board. It seemed alot of people were wearing them to dinner that night; maybe they were just more relaxed or maybe they were going to wear them home the next day. But it occurred to me that CCL could have a "Jeans" or "Western Wear" night or theme incorporated into their program to include jeans for one evening.

The OP reminds me of my mother, who on her first cruise, wanted me to come to her house 3 times the week before so "see her outfits"! As we went over and over and over her selection, I kept telling her "It does not matter." A few days into the cruise, she said to me, "You know, it does not matter!"

As much as many of the complainers get upset about the dress, smoking, etc., I saw very little of that. But I am on vacation.........!!! And about the only thing that bothers me is the ill-mannered (most times they are kids whose parents have not taught them well.) Otherwise, I am good to go!!!
First of all let me say we (dh, our 4 kids, and I) are all laid back and we don't dress up at all. We are shorts, pants and shirts kind of people :) . I'm reading that the attire for day and night in and out of the dining room and around the ship is dressy (slacks, dresses, dress shirts, etc). We don't own those items since we don't ever go anywhere dressy. We have turned to asking friends and family who have cruised and they say that I'm being misinformed here by the dress code. They say it's laid back and the only time anyone dresses up is on formal night, all other nights and days around the ship are jeans, shorts, and shirts :) . Some dress up a bit but few. We only plan on eating in the dining room once on formal night and we went all out with tuxes and ball gowns for all of us :D . I've been told we went too far out. The other nights we plan on eating at the buffet because we don't plan on dressing up and we have 4 kids so we want to make it easy ;) .

I have started to pack but I'm almost to the point where I don't even care to go because I hear two different stories. My sister just got off the Disney and she said she seen most people wearing jean shorts, pants, and t shirts, vacation wear. I agree 100%. I beileive when your on vacation that you should be yourself and dress comfy in what you do daily as long as it's not trashy ;) . Dh's friend just got off the Imagination and he said that same thing , very laid back and he was surprise to hear what I was being told. He said that the dining room at night was pretty laid back too, alot wore sports shirts (polo type) and some even wore jeans??

We have packed jean shorts and shirts for the whole family to wear excpet for the formal dinner.

Does this sound right and ok?
Based upon what you say about your dining choices you are fine. Don't let anyone worry you that you do not have appropriate clothing. The "dress code" is suggested only (not mandatory) and only applies to the dining room at dinner.
