suziehmkr Posted October 11, 2006 #26 Share Posted October 11, 2006 Suziemkr you wrote about snorking at three places own your own .We have our stuff also.Where did you go? Thanks again keep those ideas coming in. On Kauai - we snorkeled at Poipu Beach. I absolutely love this beach. There is a small area where little ones can snorkel, an open area for those that are so-so and you can venture out to the further points for more experienced. You can see pics of Poipu if you start scrolling from this picture: http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2036144260032405699ZFEkSp On Maui - we snorkeled at Black Rock at Ka'anapali. Wonderful snorkeling, more challenging the further you go out. Just a few pics from Maui - not much of a beach for space anyway - and crowded, but good snorkeling. Start with this one: http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2756952000032405699hJdwxQ In Hilo - the kids snorkeled at one of the black sand beaches. It looked rough and craggly so the adults didn't (plus we were short on time after touring the volcano), but the kids had fun. Hilo beaches are just DIFFERENT so snorkeling isn't as big thing there. In Kona we WERE going to drive to some spots near the Place of Refuge - and that was the snorkeling that we were really looking forward to. But we didn't get to port. So we will visit there when we go for a land trip in 2008.
tpride3 Posted October 12, 2006 #27 Share Posted October 12, 2006 Thanks for the info. My daughter is wanting to see a black sand beach. Kill two birds with one stone as the old saying goes. Thanks
