Kevin's girl Posted September 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2006 We will be doing the Serenade of the Seas 7 night cruise and I was wondering if anyone may know if she actually sails past the Pitons. This will be our second time to St Lucia, and we never got to see the Pitons on the first cruise. I am trying to figure out what we want to do here, and if the ship is going to sail past so we get to see them then I don't have to actually do an excursion there. Sheffie Posted September 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2006 The ship sails into the harbor between the Pitons and does the "Piton Pivot!" The captain takes his beautiful ship about 200 yards off the beach and does a 360 degree pivot between the peaks and then turns out to sea and sails into the sunset. It is breath taking! Be sure to go up on the helipad for the best view!
Kevin's girl Posted September 23, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 23, 2006 Very cool, thanks so much. We did the Empress 11 night almost two years ago and never saw them. I didn't want to miss them a second time.
Sheffie Posted September 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2006 Oh, on Friday we also did the pivot in front of Monsettat. To get to the helipad, go on deck 5 to the front of the ship and up the stairs. Here are my pictures from St. Lucia. Pages 3 and 4 show the cruise down to the Pitons. Have a fabulous cruise! Kevin's girl Posted September 23, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted September 23, 2006 Thanks so much, love the pics. I won't try to get in the two excursions in one day. It will be much more relaxing.
Epaul3 Posted September 23, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2006 as they said, make sure you get up to the helipad during this time..... they have wonderful drink specials they serve while the captain is doing his turnaround!
truffles2 Posted September 23, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2006 Most of the captains we have sailed with have gone a bit out of their way to show you anything that might be of interest...such as the Pitons and also Montseurrat. It was much appreciated by the pax.
