Suburban Drudgery Posted September 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2006 boyfriend, husband, companion. I don't know what the lingo is for this age group but she wants a male companion. What cruise should she go on that has more seniors on it (I hope male singles)? She lives in Los Angeles and I told her that the cruise ships have single cruises but I don't know if that it true at all. Maybe she should go to Princess which is more for the older crowd since Carnival is for young people and families. I don't know. Can anyone help me with this one. She's cute and retired and eager to meet a guy her age (60's). Not younger she told me. She doesn't want to marry but if the guy is up for it so is she. But she's mostly interested in a cruise for singles around 50-70 and if she needs to share a cabin with a other lady for the double occ. rate she's ok with that. TIA My email is eyeneedcaffeine@yahoo.com if you want to email directly about my MIL. Thanks;)

I don't know. I take it that, since you're posting on the Carnival board, she likes hairy chests? (Sorry, to waste your time, but I just couldn't not say it. Please forgive me. In fact my right hand tried to stop my left hand from hitting the Submit Reply button, but it wasn't strong enough.)

MilliesMom Posted September 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2006 From the Princess web site: http://www.princess.com/singles/index.html It also lists 3 upcoming cruises on this link. Are you single and dreaming of a cruise vacation, but unsure what to expect? You're not alone! Many single travelers wonder which cruises will have the most singles on board, how they'll meet other singles, what the cruise will cost and whether they'll enjoy themselves. Relax. Cruising is ideal for singles, and no other form of travel affords as many opportunities to meet people and make friends. After all, Princess was the first line to popularize cruising for singles with the hit TV series, The Love Boat. On a hosted singles cruise you'll enjoy exclusive cocktail parties, mixers, games, group excursions, single-mingle dining and more! Plus, a high-energy host will be on hand to make introductions and organize events. Complimentary T-shirts and wristbands will be provided for entrance to private singles events. Once you've reserved your cruise, we'll also give you private access to a singles chat site where you can get to know other singles before you depart. If you're looking for a roommate to cut costs, the Match Program can pair you with a same-sex single in one stateroom (on singles sailings only), enabling us to offer you the same per-person pricing that couples receive. If you prefer the privacy of your own stateroom, single-occupancy cabins are also available at the single-supplement rate. Roommate matching is provided upon request as a courtesy to clients who confirm their reservations at least 70 days before departure. If you request a match within 70 days of your sail date, we cannot guarantee you a roommate. View singles cruises Please call Singles At Sea at 800-362-5918 to speak with a Singles Specialist. Please note: this service is not available on all sailings. MilliesMom Posted September 25, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2006 From the Holland America site: http://www.hollandamerica.com/onboard/single.do Each Holland America ship hosts a Solo Travelers party for singles to meet each other early during their cruise. Solo travelers enjoy enriching activities with mixers, cocktail parties, games and more. In total, there are more than 40 activities to meet other singles including: exercise classes, enriching lectures (select departures), line dance class, wine tasting and cooking demonstrations, Team Trivia contests, the daily quiz, sports challenges and more. Many of our Single Partner Program guests have become fast friends and some even book future Holland America cruises together. You can count on our gracious staff and crew to create a shipboard atmosphere of camaraderie making it easy and fun to meet other solo travelers. On most cruises of 14 days or longer, onboard Social Hosts welcome single women guests to dinner and dancing. By advance request, special effort will be made to seat singles with other singles at dinner. Single guests who agree to share a stateroom with another nonsmoking guest of the same sex pay only the per-person, doubleoccupancy rate. (If we can't find a partner for you, you cruise solo at the agreed-upon double-occupancy fare.) Single guests who prefer not to share a stateroom may book a double stateroom for 150 to 200 percent of the double occupancy fare, depending on the cruise and stateroom category. This program applies to selected staterooms on all ships in our fleet. The Single Partner Program is not available on Grand Cruises (Grand World Voyage, South America & Antarctic Voyage and Mediterranean & North Africa Voyage). bonniemari Posted September 25, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2006 Somedays (we work together-own our business) I would gladly give her my DH. He is 64 and he loves to cruise. Ok just kidding. Although we are firmly CCL lovers we have done NCL 4 times. Two times to Hawaii, once to Alaska and once to Southern Carribean. All four times we have found that it tends to be an older crowd (50-70 age). Not sure if it was because of the ports (Alaska & Hawaii) or the first one to Hawaii was an 11 day or if NCL just has a older clientele. Even the 7 day we did to Hawaii and the Southern Carribean was the same older crowd. Although the party didn't go on to the wee hours like it does on Carnival they were still a lively bunch. Wennfred Posted September 25, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 25, 2006 I don't know what the lingo is for this age group but she wants a male companion. What cruise should she go on that has more seniors on it (I hope male singles)? On the Valor, they listed 4 different age group Singles meetings. One was "Seniors" and another one was "Not So Single meet" lol
