It's truly much easier to grab a taxi--that way, you won't be arriving at port with a busload of others all trying to board! You shouldn't book a flight too close to boarding time, anyway!

And no--the ship waits for no one, unless they booked you and there are alot of passenger's being held up. If RCI books you, and you are the only one on that late flight--they will get you to the next port--they won't hold the ship for 1 cabin!

You don't say where you are sailing from. In most ports it is easier and quicker to just grab a taxi than use RCCL transfers (Ft. Lauderdale and San Juan being two of those ports). But for some other ports like Galveston and MCO, getting a taxi would be very expensive so you would be better off getting cruise line transfers.
