Y'all are too funny.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise Karen. Was there anything that made it extra special? Any tips of an ultra shy person?

Thanks!

Hi Everyone - :)

I have been following this thread - as I am taking my first solo in two weeks on the Celebration. I am in the same "boat" as Jeff - I have often cruised with friends and family but never solo. My DD's are a little nervous about me doing this - but I am ready.

I live in Jax so the Celebration was my first choice for this new adventure, and I couldn't pass up the awesome price I got several weeks ago - so I jumped on it. I am able to cruise more often than my friends for several reasons, I have more vacation time and I live close to the ports being 2 of those reasons.

Once concern I have is formal night - do you all get really decked out - or just somewhat? It will feel kinda wierd to be all dressed up so I plan to take something classy but not too formal.

The other concern is going ashore. There are only 2 other groups on my roll call - one couple and a group of friends/cousins. I am hoping that I do get a table of other solo's like me at dinner.

I promise to come back and let you all know how it goes. Also, I monitor the solo thread here at CC. Unfortunately not too many Carnival cruisers are on that thread. I think it would be fun if we could all get together on a Carnival cruise sometime in the future. I stick with Carnival because it is all I know and the pricing allows me to cruise more often.

Like Jeff said - all suggestions on making this a great vacation are welcome! :D

I see you are booked on the Sensation 5/24. I am going on her on 6/3. Very close dates!

I just returned from my virgin (no jokes please) solo cruise. Let me tell you that it was the absolutly best experience. First cruise ever, and going solo....alot of people said I had guts to do it, but I call it confidence and security. GO FOR IT.....you will want it every time.

When I told people last year about my first solo cruise I got the same reaction. I admit I was a little uneasy about it but it truly was the best experience I've ever had. In fact this past March when I was with family I missed the freedom of being solo :D

Now I've got two cruises booked, one October 07 & another in October 08 and both are solo :p

I was one of the wonderful people Bonnie met last October. :D

It was also my first solo cruise, and the Saints and Sinners group made it very special. I was always made to feel welcome and had more actual "fun" than on any of my previous cruises. I'm a retired geezer, but was up until 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. every night closing down either the disco or the casino... and then on up to the 24-hour snack bar for pizzas, calzones or breadsticks and a nightcap.

I'm currently booked for the Saints and Sinners 3 and 4 group cruises for this coming October and for October of 2008. I look forward to seeing Bonnie again, and many of the other friends I met.

It does indeed feel like a family and everyone stays in touch from cruise to cruise through either CC, e-mails, or group chats.

One of the great things, to me, about traveling as a single is that you can party all night with other group members, or you can curl up by yourself with a good book or take a nap any time you want to, without having to adjust to another person's schedule or preferences.

It's really the best of both worlds.

I'll be doing the S&Ss solo too. I guess it doesn't seem like it since I'm going with people I know...but will be without hubby. Last one I took was with my mom, so this will be a completely different experience. Hmm... I might enjoy these Girl's Getaways.

And yes, Bonnie is a blast....just don't get her, me and a group of people at hight tea... LOL...

Stephanie is going to be my chaperone on S and S 3! She's going to protect me from a blue-haired biddy who is lusting after me.

I am going on a cruise for the first time on the Conquest Sept 16. Going with some family but sailing solo myself. After reading this thread though seems like the S&S3 is going to be lots of fun!:) Wish I would have discovered this thread a long time ago...

Went on my first solo cruise this year (May on the Liberty) Loved it. My best friend and I have booked the Celebration. Love the single cabins. Talked her into each of us booking one. Gives each of us a little private time. I have also booked the Liberty again next June with friends and family.

I want to know if an S & S is being planned for 2009. In addition to my cruise next year I have a trip to Panama planned with my mother and sisters. So S & S 2008 is out of the question. But would like to get in on the next one.

No doubt there will be a 2009 S&S cruise!! Just keep watching the boards. :D

I loved the Celebration. That was my first true solo cruise. I had a single cabin with a porthole and it was perfect. Loved the itinerary. You will have a blast!!

I love the single with the porthole!! I discovered how much more relaxing traveling solo can be this year. I plan to do it as often as possible.

Oh yeh...there will be a 2009. They started the S&S4 18 months prior to cruise.

If you're a cruisin Grandma....there are a few cruisin Grandpas also.:D

Glad you and others have found this thread again.

I discovered this in October 06 and now have three solo cruises booked. Other than the single supplements  sailing solo is the best way to go!

As for SS5 for 2009, I'm sure hoping they plan that one so I can go too! Next year's is month end/beginning of the month and my boss would have a heart attack if I took it off :)

I suppose I qualify as a single cruisin' Grandpa, since I've accumulated six of the little rugrats..... ranging in age from 1 to 10. Each of my three sons has two children, so they're spread out pretty evenly.

Allen - aren't they wonderful!! I have 2. one boy 5 and one girl 7 (she will be 8 in August). They are so very special. The best part is being young enough to enjoy them. I only have one son and they can't have any more. So I work hard on spoiling them.
