jadaz Posted October 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Hi all- Traveling on the Christmas Cruise on POAM and wondering if at certain ports if I don't rent a car, or book an excursion will there be anything there to walk to and do/see etc? I am not familiar with the ports in Hawaii. On other cruises, we have walked around, shopped, hopped on a trolley etc and were able to see things go to the beach etc. without getting a car or always having an excursion booked. Any ideas/thoughts? TIA!! :) Julie
rockyhou Posted October 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Hi just got pack from Hawaii on the POH and loved it. Personally not renting a car is a HUGE mistake there is just so much to do and see and it is easy to get around. But if that is not an option in Kauai there is a really nice beach walking distance from the port (for an abled bodied person). It is front of the Marriott and we did that our second day in Kauai since we left port at 2PM. In Kona there is a cute town with lots of shopping right off the peir. Would have liked to spent more time there. Hilo & Maui not alot to do at pier. You definelty need car or excursion. Have fun...wish it were me going again. jadaz Posted October 6, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Michael- Perfect info...just what I needed! I didn't want to "deal" with a car or excursion every day.....so was trying to decide when might be better to skip it. Thanks so much!:) Anything else you want to share about your trip?
