How is a 9 night repo different than a 7 nighter?

We are booked on the Vancouver to San Fran via Alaska Sept. 21, 2007. We have cruised on a 3, 5, and 7 nighter, but nothing more. What can we expect on the Vision? Will there be more than 2 formal nights? Would there be a chocolate buffet? I know tips are more, but what else?

I'm sure there won't be more than two formal nights. You more than likely have additional ports...check your itinerary. I'm sure there will be a midnight buffet, but chocolate, maybe not! We did the Vision's repo from Long Beach to Vancouver a few years ago...she's a lovely ship, albeit somewhat smaller than many of RCCL's. If you've not been to Alaska before, it is truly spectacular and you should have some incredible memories. Enjoy!!;)

Aside from the length and the possibility of some out of the ordinary ports of call, there is not much difference between a repositioning cruise and a regular one. There may be an extra formal night on a cruise of 9 nights or more. It will depend on the cruise and you may not learn for certain until you board. The price may be a bargain, although as more people find out about repositioning cruises, the prices seem to be rising to regular levels and the cruises sell out as quickly as, sometimes more quickly than, regular itineraries. Enjoy the extra time onboard. There will be plenty of activities to occupy your time and chances to have a relaxing vacation. We go on a 12 night repositioning out of Boston at the end of the month and look forward to it with great anticipation.:)
