first time to USVI

For your first visit to the USVI... if you want to learn about the history of the area and get a full tour of St Thomas, I highly recommend Godfrey (especially if you are thinking of returning on a land vacation - then you get a good glimpse of different parts of the island that will help you in planning that land vacation). You will also get a beach stop with Godfrey. However, if you want to relax on a gorgeous beach with views of Jost Van Dyke, Trunk Bay is good but you do spend time (and money) getting over to St John. Cinnamon Bay is a good alternative if Trunk is crowded.

The first time we were on a cruise that stopped at St Thomas, it was raining off and on, so we declined going to St John on our own due to weather (who knows... it could have been clear and sunny there). However, we went to Magen's Bay instead, and when it cleared, only a half dozen people were there total. Had we done a tour that day, we would have learned a lot about St Thomas. Regardless, we returned on land-vacation the following year and have also been back on a cruise to marry on St John - taking our wedding group on a Godfrey tour after the wedding/reception.
