How do I know how much to tip? Is it okay to tip someone who brings your breakfast or room service? I will need help carrying my lunch trays, do I tip when someone carries it to my table? Thank you. Dianne :p

you didnt say which ship--

But tip room service when service is rendered. Every time they deliver your stuff to your door--give a buck or two depending on how much you ordered.

No need to tip people who carry your stuff to your table. (carnival doesn t have trays)

Here's RCI's tipping guidelines - some may vary but this is about what we did on NCL too. Watch which line you go on as some add it in to your onboard credit account at the end of the cruise now too:

Tipping – So that you can thank those who have made your cruise vacation better than you could have imagined, we've developed these gratuity guidelines:

Dining room waiter: $3.50 USD a day per guest

Stateroom attendant: $3.50 USD a day per guest

Assistant waiter: $2 USD a day per guest

Definitely on the room service and the bar usually adds it on automatically so check that too before doing any more.

Also some lines such as NCL automatically add a fee ($10/day/guest on NCL) to cover tips. You can adjust it up or down if you wish. In this case, you would still tip the room service person and many people also tip the cabin attendant. I agree with the 3.50, 3.50, 2.00 guidelines. Make sure to look at your check if you buy drinks. I have heard that some add 15% and also have a line for tip.

We will be on the Infinity July 25th for an Alaskan cruise. I just did my envelopes and I thank everyone who sent me some much guided information. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I presume this is all on a per persoon basis? Thanks, Dianne
