Christmas New Years Cruise

This will be are first time to sail on a Christmas, New years cruise. Has anyone every done this, is there special things for Christmas, do they do a New years party. We are going on the Dawn to Mexico. We never go out on New Years Eve, was hoping there is some kind of party. Thanks Teresa
