Car rental drop in Barcelona?

Can anyone provide information on ease of dropping off a car in Barcelona?

We are planning to spend a week in Provence then drive to Barcelona for the Millenium Med Cruise on September 30. Would like to find car rental agency that has location fairly close to the port. Drop off charge we have been quoted is fairly steep (500EU).. any bargains or creative solutions? Thanks.
