waunabcruizin Posted October 18, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2006 49er - Just curious - are you a 49er football fan or are your family descended from gold rush 49ers or ? I see you're from Placerville (Hangtown) so wonder if you are a descendant from a gold rush 49er.... Carol.
49er Posted October 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 18, 2006 Hi Carol, I use "49er" as my handle because of the proximity of where we live to the great Gold Rush of 1849. We actually live closer to Coloma (where Marshall discovered gold in 1848) then Placerville. Not related to any mining family but just love the history of the area. Thanks for asking:-) 49er PS My Dad was one of the founder fathers of the NFL back in the '20s and the team he played for, the Kansas City Cowboys eventually evolved into the Rams. He never cared much for the San Francisco 49ers :-)
