Caribe Deck

I read on this board were someone said back midship area of the Caribe deck on the Grand Class ships in a dishwashing area. Is this true? I am now worried about the noise. I have booked C639 (Caribe) on the Grand Princess

for next spring. It is a BA catergory so I thought it would be a good choice.

You will Love the Caribe deck. I try to book it every time. We will again be on the Diamond Princess next month and will again have a Balcony Cabin on the Caribe deck right in the middle of the ship. The outside deck is wonderful. It is about twice as deep as the other balconies. You can either have total sun, or you can place the seats close to the slidding door and have shade and total privacy. A bonus is if you feel like looking down at the people below you that have mini-suites, you can, because their balconies are totally uncovered. Go for it.

Absolutely not. C639 is a great location, close to the elevator but far enough away so that there will be no noise (not that I've ever heard noise from the elevator area.) The kitchen and dishwashing areas on the ship are many decks below so there's absolutely no foundation to whatever you've read.

When I was on Baja on the Caribbean Princess, we were amidship and right across from a room service staging room. There was often the clanging of dishes and carts and the chatter of room service people. But the sound never bothered me. It wasn't really a dishwashing area, but it could be mistaken for that.

Personally, I was never bothered by the sound because my cabin door was always closed, and the service people usually had the door closed to their work area. The sound leaked out only as room service waiters came and went.

On the positive side, when I ordered coffee every morning it was delivered INSTANTLY! And I do mean INSTANTLY! I learned I had to have my clothes on already when I picked up the phone to order because he would arrive within 60 seconds!

So somthing like that may be on Caribe deck. But I wouldn't worry about it.
