Drink of the Day - Pricing

The drink of the day is usually $6 or $7 dollars in mug. Then you can use the mug for the rest of the cruise and get the drink of the day cheaper.

On the Spirit in August if you bought the drink of the day in the casino they gave you a $5 chip to play so it only cost you a couple of bucks.

On the Spirit last week I bought a mai tai while out by the failtail pool. I didn't notice the pricing until later -- the drink was approximately 8 oz. in size, $9.78 with tax and gratuity. Probably a good thing that I drank it first before looking at the price. :p

I have never had a foo-foo that was over $6 unless it was in the souvenir glass (plastic). Funship Specials are the cheapest at less than $4 per drink (regular glass). However, even the most exotic foo-foo's are usually less than $6 each. I don't believe the refilss are that cheap. If anything it is at least $5.95 plus tip. I wouldn't want to be bothered with carrying around the glass so unless you really want to take home one of those souvenir glasses, just get the drink in a regular glass and enjoy.

Just so no one is confused my $9.78 mai tai was NOT in a specialty glass. I thought $9.78 was dang HIGH for a drink, especially when I got a maragarita in Ixtapa for $2.50, which by the way was REAL GOOD. :D

You may have been charged double. That sounds like the cost of two foo-foo drinks on Carnival. Who knows. Maybe it was a compoota glitch.

Excuse me? Why yes. I am a foo-foo expert!!!:p

last week on the destiny our DOD was 6.95...in a specialty glass....we used it again throughout the cruise for "refills" on the current DOD and the price was 5.95...so we only saved 1 dollar per drink!!

Was it worth it to carry the glass around? Just curious. I am so absentminded (or is that drunk?) that I would lose the glass in short order.

we didn't really carry it around...when we decided we wanted a drink, we would just bring it from our cabin...we are not heavy drinkers....usually have 1 at the pool so we brought it with all our pool stuff(tan lotion, towels, book, sunglasses ) and got 1 before the shows....so it wasn't like we were carrying it around all day and night...
