Dress for kids on 3 night Baja cruise

Leaving in 11 days for the quickie cruise to Baja on RCCL Monarch. I'm thinking this is a fairly laid back experience clothes-wise. Will my 9 year old son be ok in nice tan slacks, black silk shirt, black/tan tie, black belt, and black shoes for formal night or should I search for a sport coat (the pickin's are pretty slim out there for kids)? The other two nights, is he ok in a collarless long sleeve shirt with slacks or should I make sure all shirts are collared?

What about hubby? He's not bringing the tux but can he get away with a sports coat, tie, shirt, nice slacks on formal night or should I have him bring a suit?

Really trying not to overpack here but don't want to be out of the place in the dining room.
