Easter Sunday in St. Martin

I am assuming that EVERYTHING (shopping/dining/activities) will be closed, right? I was thinking getting a day pass at a resort would be our best bet. Can anyone recommend someplace with a nice pool area, a beach (maybe with a place to snorkle), and possibly even watersports (like jet skis to rent)?

Thanks!

I don't see this year's list, but the following information was published previously in The Daily Herald, the local newspaper:

PHILIPSBURG--The Executive Council released the official list of thirteen holidays for 2005 on Monday.

On the mentioned days, all government offices and other businesses as outlined in the laws will be closed. The holidays are:

Good Friday (March 25),

Easter Sunday (March 27),

Easter Monday (March 28),

Carnival Grand Parade Day (Friday, April 29),

Queen’s Birthday (Saturday, April 30),

Labour Day (Monday, May 2),

Ascension Day (Thursday, May 5),

White Sunday (May 15),

Antilles Day (Friday, October 21),

St. Maarten Day (Friday, November 11),

Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25),

Boxing Day (Monday, December 26) and

New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1, 2006).

The aforementioned is not applicable to certain businesses mentioned in article 3 of the law on shop closure: pharmacies, as far as it concerns the sale of medicines and medical products; bars and restaurants; hotels and guesthouses; stores located in hotels, on airport premises and on harbour premises of Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise and Cargo Facilities; funeral parlours; gas stations; and bakeries selling pastries, milk and milk products.

No exemptions are granted for business establishments to be open on Good Friday. This includes and is applicable to stand-alone casinos (casinos on hotel premises with less than 200 rooms are considered stand-alone casinos) as well.
