Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for pre & post cruise?

We're flying in and out of Miami but our cruise departs from Ft. Lauderdale. We're thinking of staying in Ft. Lauderdale pre-cruise and Miami post-cruise. Does this make the most sense?

 

We're also seeking reccomendations for nicer hotels for Miami and/or Ft. Lauderdale.

Wow...the Four Seasons room for the night is only 550.00...i didn't even pay that much for a 1 week cruise...

We're still looking for something in Miami. We're running into minimum stay requirements as well as no availability. Do you have any recommendations for places that are in the $250-$300 per night range and close to activities or shopping in the Miami area?

Are you renting a car? If you are some nice places to stay would be Coconut Grove or Coral Gables.

 

Coconute Grove:

The Sonesta

The Wyndam

The Mayfair

There are a lot of standalone shops as well as Cocowalk which houses many shops as well. There is an abundance of restaurants, cafe's and bar for activites.

 

Coral Gables:

The Hyatt

The Omni Colonade

 

You can visit Miracle Mile for many shops and palces to eat as well as Village of Merrick Park our newest open mall...My favorite to go shopping at!! There is a Nordstrom and Neiman as well as other highend stores and regular stores such ass Express, Ann Taylor, etc...

 

If you choose the beach there are MANY hotels to choose from and you can visit Lincoln Road Mall which is also a very large open mall with shops, places to eat, bars, clubs and a movie theatre.
