Bus on Sunday to Dockyard, or Hitch hike

HI Were in town on Sunday, I am thinking of back up plans incase we cant do the canapy tour.

 

My question to those that have been to Antigua , and used Bus on Sunday.

 

How far is the ride? does the bus get you close enough to walk? We are off the beaten path type of people, we like using the bus to meet the locals.

 

Also , we have hitch hicked on many of the islands, is this one safe to do.

 

any info would be helpfull
