Craigster-diver Posted November 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2006 Hi, We're leaving in a month...Westerdam....Western Caribbean.....Grand Cayman on Dec 21st. Our tour stuff originally said that Grand Cayman is a tender port, but I've read that there's a pier now. So, do we tender, or do we tie up in Grand Cayman ?? Thanks!! drew sailbum Posted November 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2006 An inaccurate report in a newspaper article will continue to cause confusion for some time. Grand Cayman constructed a new tender pier, the Royal Watler terminal. Additionally, government announced plans to build a pier to berth up to four ships. Somehow these two issues got confused, and a newspaper report stated that Grand Cayman had already built the berthing facilities. Not yet. Given that any major project runs on "island time" I would not expect any berthing facilites to be ready for use for a couple years. Construction has not yet started on the berthing facilities. If you are a regular cruiser, you will likely get a couple looks at the project under construction before it is ready for use. And considering that Grand Cayman regularly hosts more than 4 ships in a day, you may still find yourself tendering to shore.
