This explains it. It has to do with the port and its officials, not the ship. I guess that we have been fortunate in the past then; we've never had to get off.

I wonder what Miami does. Off all of our B2Bs, none of them have been in Miami.

My two postings and part of my Navigator review, happened in Miami. My posts about on and off on "turn around day" took place in Miami where she sails from. ;)

Alexis, this is OT, but I had to smile when I read your signature about the TMC. I did 2 cruises before our Freedom cruise, in order to be Diamond for the Freedom. The August Monarch cruise point didn't show up, but the September Radiance cruise points (we were in a suite) showed the day after we disembarked. However, by October, we were still waiting for the August cruise point. :( When it looked dire, they finally manually entered the August point (to make us Diamond) on October 7th, for our October 15th sailing. The good news was that, even though all our booking info said Platinum, our SeaPass showed us a Diamond and we received the Diamond perks. The bad news is that we didn't receive the additional balcony discount, because of the late status change.

If you don't have another cruise coming up, before the "three months," hang in there. However, if you have something coming up, they CAN manually add the point. You just have to keep calling until you get someone who WILL do it. :)

Back on topic: Thanks so much for this thread. I have my first B2B coming up in March and this has been very helpful! ~ LL

Thanks for letting me know there are others out there. :D

I don't have one for another year. But, it is booked and I have paid off a lot of it already. (I will be questioned on this next comment by people who like to get interest.) :o I pay my cruises off up to a 9 months to a year in advance. If something comes up in the future, I know it is paid and need not worry. I can always cancel if need be later, and I still get the price drops.

EDIT: Please. No posts from people who think I am stupid for doing that and letting RCCL earn my interest. Been there and done that thanks! :D

:) This thread is so informative. We are thinking about doing a B2B in the Summer of 2008.

I have another question for you B2B veterans out there. Do you leave your luggage in the room or do you need to take them with you as you go through customs again? What if you have a different room for the second leg of the trip?

MIA is a strict port; you have to get off. Bayonne was very lax; we actually took the crew bus to the mall and returned all without going thru Immigrations & Customs.

We are taking our third b2b cruise on Sat. I bet that we will have to get off the ship in Port Everglades. It would be nice if we didn't, its not really a big deal to get off and right back on.

If you have the same cabin for both weeks you just leave things in your cabin from the first week. There is know need to pack and unpack.:D That is the fun thing.

We like to go look at different cabins and suites when all the passengers get off.

To go through customs and immigration, we did not take our luggage, we took our sea pass, BC or passport and photo id. after week one. If you have a different room, most cabin stewards will move your luggage to your new room for you. they take the clothes right with the hangers from the closet. the other things you need to prepare to be moved. We have tried several times to buy booze in week one (on the islands) have it put away till last night of cruise, like it is done, and hpoefully get it to our cabin the last night of week one, to have for week two. Never happened. They keep it till the last night of week TWOicon9.gif I am doing a B2B on the Liberty in June, it will be interesting to see what kind of mess it will be going from week 1 to week 2. But I will still enjoy my Cruise.

You ask what we did from 10-11:30. We went up on the pool deck and watched all the pax with sad faces waiting to be called off.icon7.gif For our pics, no there wasn't any line. The boarding did not even start till 12:15, so what we did was walk off ourselves at 11:55 (not with the escort person) and when we got to the podium where the rep stands to do your pics when you board, we told him we needed a new pic for the second week cruise, stood in front looked into the screen and poof we were back on the ship! There were 9 other cabins doing B2B with us (not out personal friends) some of them did what we did, others left with the escort. Just to let you in on a little secret (pisst don't tell anyone) when you leave your cabin, the doors leading out to the elevator areas (after walking through your deck halls) will lock and you can not get back in, until the boarding for the ship begins.BUT if you look up top to the side of the door ( on the inside or outside) whichever side you are on, you press the square button and it releases the lock for you to get back to your cabin! We did go back and forth to our cabin between 10-11:30 also , but made sure to stay out of the way of the workers. Yes it does depend on what port you are departing from and whether you have completed customs, to determine whether you have to physically leave the ship for a B2B. You will Love it!!!! I have never cruised for less than 7 days in my life, and now it is so hard for me to do a 7 day anymore. I opt for 9+ days or else I am not satisfied. Wish I could opt for the 365 days.icon12.gif

Thanks for the tip about opening the doors to the cabin corridors. Because our cabin is an aft JS, we plan to take what we need for the day when we leave the cabin to avoid the long trek down the hall to our aft cabin! It's good to know that we can return before 1:00pm if we have forgotten anything.

I've only ever done 6 or 7 night sailings so I have no idea what I am in for when we do our b2b. I know this may sound like an insane question....but did you feel at any time during the 2nd week that you were ready to get off? My DH thinks 14 nights may be too long  Personally, I am jumping at the chance to sail for 14 nights so it really doesn't matter all that much what he thinks! LOL :D

Also, did the cruise line do anything special for the folks on b2b's? I have heard about treats being delivered to the cabin, special lunches etc...

I think we plan to disembark in SanJuan on turnaround day and maybe visit El Yunqe (sp?) we didn't get to do that last year.

Thanks for your help!

We didnt get anything special for doing the B2b's we were on. Just the norm, diamond coctail parties (the captain did announce us being there for the B2B and made us stand) but no big deal! No, I never felt at anytime that I wanted to go home, even after day 14! I enjoy the Voyager ships, and find so much to keep you entertained, that you just NEVER want to go home. I just cruised to Hawaii in Spet. 2006 on the Radiance ship, there were days (maybe after day 8 ) that I felt I've had enough, and wanted to get home. There were a lot of reasons for this, 1st my mother (85 yrs old) got sick 3 weeks before we left, and she was paid to go along. I could of left her at home ( since she had insurance and medical doc, to get a refund) but I had no one at home to take care of her for 14 days, and she didn't want to go to a nursing home temporay. So we took her (wheelchair bound) very weak , etc. so that put a damper from the start. Then the Ship itself, I didn't really care for. It had 75% of pax ages 65 or older. I made the best of it and now I know I like Voayer class ships the Best! How could you not enjoy being waited on and cleaned up after , the more days the merrier.

hi wondered what people doing for clean clothes we may get off and do a load of laundry in los angles before our second week on b2b in vision in jan

We plan to send our laundry out to be done on the ship ( the prices are very reasonable) If I were to pack for 15 days.......my DH would have serious back issues carrying my suitcase! :p
