ROPD184 Posted November 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2006 So i have an assigned balcony room on the Conquest Sept 9th 07 booked through a TA. I paid 710 a room all charges includes. I did a price check lastnight on a site that you put info about what cruise you want in and it sends you emails with diffent offers. I got a reply quoting me 660 for a Guarenteed Balcony...should I call my TA and see what he can do?? or be happy with the assigned room?? Its frusterating because all the TAs are closed today and I cant even call em!!
Vanessa L Posted November 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2006 There is a significant difference between an assigned cabin and a guarantee. If you choose the guarantee you could end up with a balcony anywhere on the ship. If you don't care where you are, just happy to be on the ship, then go for it. I personally like to know exactly where I am going to be as I do not like being high up--I like being as close to the water as possible. I think the thing that frustrates me the most is folks who book the guarantee and then fuss because they end up with a partially obstructed view, or too high, too low, too forward, too aft, etc. When you book a guarantee you get what you get. Think about your options and then decide accordingly. Is it worth the $50pp to risk losing the room you have?
Ship Addict Posted November 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2006 I personally wouldn't worry about it. The $100 savings just isn't going to be that much in the long run. If you are happy where your cabin is, then stay where you are. Now if it were $100 per person, then I would be switching out!
happy cruzin Posted November 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2006 So i have an assigned balcony room on the Conquest Sept 9th 07 booked through a TA. I paid 710 a room all charges includes. Its frusterating because all the TAs are closed today and I cant even call em!! I called our PVP last year with a similar situation and all they would offer me was assistance in transferring my booking to the other company  . That is not what I wanted to do so we stayed where we were. Mkae sure that you are comparing apples to apples and that all of the fees and taxes are included in the quote that you received. But understand that Carnival will not always honor those prices particularily if you booked during a promotion and got any kind of upgrade Carnival often says that you booking does not qualify. I personally would stay with your original plan. You know where your cabin is and you are happy with it. With the guarantee you could be anywhere...above a club or the casino, etc. We always book a specific cabin and do not have to worry about being place in a location that we are not happy with. What ever you decide I wish you good luck and happy cruising !
Rare finoky Posted November 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2006 The gaurantee price will always be lower than an assigned cabin price. Unless the price of your assigned category has lowered then you won't be eligible for any type of credit, upgrade, etc.
arby70 Posted November 23, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2006 I did last night about 9:00 pm. I had bought a honeymoon cruise for my daughter and fiance (I've just paid the deposit so far) and it's on the Conquest and the one right after yours. Carnival had dropped the prices $50 per person. I called my online TA right away and he got the $100 taken off right then and there. I have an assigned oceanview cabin so maybe they have dropped the prices for yours as well. Check in to it, but 710 for a balcony sounds pretty good already.
