Christmas - New Year Cruising

I'm booked on a Christmas - New Year cruise to the Canaries, New Year's Eve being in Madeira. Can anyone tell me what differences I'll notice cruising at this time of year (aside from the great fireworks display I'm expecting)?

Any special activities, themed nights etc?

Is the weather and sea more likely to be bad?

Will there be any sunshine ?

Thanks

Hi there,

We did a family cruise to the Canaries over Christmas on Aurora last year.

I think it wasn't alot different , but people tended to dress up more on the festive days and there were crackers and fancy hats and wonderful food and menus over Christmas. We also all received a gift on Christmas day. Once you're through the Bay of Biscay, the weather improves. Shirtsleeves in Madeira and the Canaries if you're lucky.

Have a wonderful time.
