Chick & Ellen Posted November 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2006 Hi there We will be in Belize for the first time on the HAL Veendam on December 12. We want to snorkel and see coral and marine life, but not do the stingray trip (we did it in Grand Cayman, and loved it, but once is enough.) We are strong swimmers and experienced snorkelers, but we don't own snorkeling gear anymore. (of course we could buy some before the trip, if that made economic sense.) If we decide to go the water taxi route, we were wondering if there is someplace on Caye Caulker, San Pedro, or the Marine terminal to rent gear, and what the approximate cost is. We would also like to hear your opinions about the best Belize snorkeling option for us - so many of the postings that we read focused on bringing children, first-timers, etc; we are simply wondering: where is the best snorkeling in terms of conditions and abundance of flora and fauna that we can comfortably get to during our 8a to 6p docking? We are not averse to booking a ship excursion, but would prefer not to. The excursions we are offered are: Rendezvous Caye Snorkel and Beach Break- $79- 3.5 hours Goff's Caye Snorkeling- $54- 4 hours Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
