Need assistance with planning Alaska cruise out of vancouver.

This is our first cruise to Alaska. I have a few questions for past Alaska cruisers:

 

How far/much is the cab fair to the cruise terminal from the airport (Royal Carribean)?

 

Can you recommend the best hotels in the following categories:

5 star

4 star

3 star

 

What is the earliest flight out of Vancouver I can make, if I'm doing my own air (we are cruising on Serenade of the Seas in 08/07)?

We did Alaska from Vancouver in September, we stayed pre and post nights at the Westin Bayshore which we booked thru Priceline and got a great rate.

We used Viator for our transfers http://www.viator.com/

My experience is a little different as we did everything through the cruise line...

 

But, for a REALLY NICE 5-Star hotel, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Sutton Place...This place was first class all the way and the location cannot be beat:

It's at the intersection of Burrard and Robson...Burrard is the main street of Downtown Vancouver and Robson is the prime shopping and restaurant street...making this THE prime corner of Vancouver...
