HumanCookie Posted November 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2006 28/11/2006 Meyer Werft delivered the 93,500gt Norwegian Pearl to NCL Corp. today in the Dutch port of Eemshaven. The ship is the third in a series of four the German builder is creating for NCL. Norwegian Pearl continues the Freestyle Cruising concept, with 10 restaurants and 13 bars and lounges, and also brings new ideas such as cruising’s first bowling alley in a sports bar and lounge complex that will be open 24 hours. Seventy percent (792) of the 1,197 passenger cabins are ocean-view, most with their own balconies. There are 44 suites and 132 mini-suites, with NCL’s trademark spacious Garden Villas and a new type of accommodation, top-deck Owner’s Suites. The vessel is powered by a diesel-electric podded propulsion system. Norwegian Pearl is scheduled to sail for Rotterdam to embark passengers on a mini-cruise to Southampton. On Saturday the ship will begin its crossing to Miami, where it will be named on Dec. 16 by television personality Rosie O’Donnell.

electricron Posted November 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2006 is the PEARL to replace the DAWNS sailings out of new york in 2007 or 2008? So far, no! The Pearl will sail this winter and next winter from Miami, and next summer from Seattle. The Gem will replace the Dawn next December. The Dawn next winter will sail from Miami. What happens the summer of 2008 isn't public yet.
