Rare nimbex1970 Posted November 29, 2006 #26 Share Posted November 29, 2006 I'm with serene, my recollection is that CCL credit must be used for the sailing booked, please call your TA to clarify this.... especially if you could pocket the $$ and shave off the price of the cruise. me....well our liquor bill for the two of us is $100 per day, but we wake early... bucket of beer $20.... afternoon bucket $20 .... bottle of wine with dinner. $30.. late night drinks 2 glasses of wine/ 2 beers... we stay up until 3 or 4am .... seems hefty... but it's paced and we're not party drunk. I'm a shopper too, can always buy a CCL sweat shirt or jogging pants, excursion that you'd normally not pay $90 for but always wanted to do and just couldn't see the sense in ante'ing up the $$ for a few hours. Spa service, esp. facials is excellent... the high pressure... buy our products after has been a huge turn off for me... so I've only had one massage, one facial... high pressure both times. But great service anyway. We use cash in the casino... not sure about credit here... good story short... our traveling companion had $60 in chips left last night... my bone head husband told him.... "just bet it all on red".... yep, he came back with $120!!!!!! could have killed that man I love... so you could have fun gambing with "play money" if you can't take it home with you. enjoy it.... no matter how you decide to spend it! green with envy carol
cruisin4fun323 Posted November 29, 2006 #27 Share Posted November 29, 2006 Can you purchase your next cruise with it? Its a thought if they are having a special onboard.
victory2020 Posted November 29, 2006 #28 Share Posted November 29, 2006 Undo your pre-paid tips. That will eat up alot of your credit. Why blow it on things you don't really need or enjoy? Also, TRY a spa svce. I'm not a spa person myself, but hey, if it's on them, what the heck! I second cancelling your pre paid tips since that is one thing you know you must spend. Rowan555 Posted November 29, 2006 Author #29 Share Posted November 29, 2006 I second cancelling your pre paid tips since that is one thing you know you must spend. The cruise is in 3 days - I'm assuming it's too late to do that?
Rowan555 Posted November 29, 2006 Author #30 Share Posted November 29, 2006 My husband just asked a good question - is it possible to purchase drink coupons ON the cruise? I'd be more than happy to buy $200 in drink coupons which we could then use on future cruises. I'm just not sure if they actually sell things like that on board. Nope- drink coupons can only be purchased 7 days before your cruise.

serene56 Posted November 29, 2006 #33 Share Posted November 29, 2006 The cruise is in 3 days - I'm assuming it's too late to do that? NEVER assume.. Call your agent NOW and ask that very question. You could burn through that credit if you did not prepay your tips.
XCV1 Posted November 29, 2006 #34 Share Posted November 29, 2006 On the Pride, you could get quarters from the change machine in the video game room and charge the cost to your room. If you have kids, and if the Fantasy has a similar game room, you could eat through alot of money really quickly (trust me, I saw it happen). buddyjo143 Posted November 30, 2006 #35 Share Posted November 30, 2006 I have a strange and not even slightly unpleasant dilemma :) Our Fantasy 5 day cruise is coming up on Saturday (woohoo!). We've prepaid gratuities, and we have a $400 shipboard credit due to the Katrina cancellations. I need help! Why not buy things for other people? You could do your Christmas shopping on Carnival's tab.
24butterfly Posted November 30, 2006 #36 Share Posted November 30, 2006 Drink coupons must be used on THAT cruise. You can't save them, if that's what you're doing.
Snoozeman Posted November 30, 2006 #37 Share Posted November 30, 2006 If you don't spend all onboard credit, it will go back to your credit card you give them. This happened to us once. They cut me a check. It was under my door on debarkation morning along with the statement.
Rowan555 Posted November 30, 2006 Author #38 Share Posted November 30, 2006 They cut me a check. It was under my door on debarkation morning along with the statement. And this was credit given to you due to a price decrease, or what? If so, that is very encouraging. I think I can spend the $400, but not the additional $389 I just found out I'm receiving due to the cost of our cruise going down that and more since we booked. If that part of the credit is refundable, I will be VERY happy.
jaime_voyager Posted November 30, 2006 #39 Share Posted November 30, 2006 Just got back from the Victory a couple days ago. Booze allowance is only for those 21 and older (it used to be per person regardless of age - but NOT so any more.) I didn't use all of my onboard credit. I had $180 getting on the ship and then they gave us another $50 since we missed our Grand Caymen port due to bad seas. The last night of the cruise I went to the Purser to find out what would happen to the credit. They told me to close out my account after I was done charging to my sign and sail - at which time they would refund the balance of my credit ($93) back to me in cash!!!
