Slots on Oosterdam: should I bother?

For us it's just entertainment. I can make my $10 last an hour on the nickel slots. John usually loses his $10 in about 15min. then annoys me for the rest of my hour  . But that's OK, because about an hour is all we can take in one sitting because of the smoke (no smoking here in DE casinos :) ).

SO completely agree with you! I plan to take the little alcohol wipes I use for cleaning my fingertips before a blood sugar test.

Even tho my daddy taught us all to count by playing blackjack & craps, I'm too intimidated to sit at the card tables in the casino. And poker - forget it!

Most card players scare me:eek: ; I have vivid memories as a boy when my Grandparents would come home not speaking to one another after a game of Bridge. :(

You are SO right! For my dad & his sisters it was Pinochle - a game that they never taught the next generation. Hmmmmm. I wonder why?

Slots are ALWAYS rigged against the player -- that's why the casinos have them -- the only difference is in how badly they are rigged against you. If you play long enough, you will always lose. If you think of it as entertainment, you can enjoy yourself -- with just a rare occasional payout $10 can last quite a while on the twenty-five cent machines -- you probably pay at about the same rate for time entertained as you would seeing a movie. Your best odds are at blackjack - then at roulette -- still, the house always has the edge. They let people win just enough to keep hope alive - if no one ever won, no one would ever play -- our natural egotism ("someone has to win, and it should be me") is what entices us to go against our wiser instincts and bet in the first place. Either play, and accept the outcome like a grown-up, or stay away. Do not complain about losing money in an environment which was specifically and scientifically designed to separate you from your money.
