stp108 Posted December 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2006 DH and I are sailing on Ecstacy next week. This is our first cruise and I've been reading trying to pick up hints and I'm a little confused. I see something about buying drink coupons online, but I don't know where to do it. Anything I can do to save money would be great. Also, I saw something about e-mailing someone to have something special in your cabin (I know, vague, but I don't remember it all). It may be too late for that. Also, I'd like to tip the room steward early on for good service. How do you do that without being awkward? Do they introduce themselves and you hand them money or what? If someone has been on Ecstacy and has posted a review, can you respond with the link? Our port of call is Cozumel. If anyone has hints or tips on what to do there, please let me know. We'll probably plan on just having lunch and a bit of shopping. Thanks in advance. SP

mrdood Posted December 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2006 Drink coupons may save you cents here and there, but were really not worth it and more hassle than benefit to me. If you are big gambler and plan on spending plenty of time in the casino, you can e-mail the casino host in advance, they may send gifts to your cabin, they may not. No pre-tipping required or expected, it will not affect the level of service you are getting, if service is not up to par, let the hotel manager know, it should be, for more information on tipping, read this - many employees are actually offended by the upfront tip or bribe, of course they will act grateful: http://www.cruisecritic.com/features/articles.cfm?ID=261 For Coz, the most popular is probably Paradise Beach, I was there in May and highly recommend it if you want to relax and enjoy the water. Otherwise shopping and lunch works great!
