AndyPanda Posted December 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2006 We are new to HAL. Can we charge casino chips (for table play) to our onboard account? Is there a fee for us to do so? Thanks, Andy
walnut99 Posted December 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2006 Yes, but one hundred dollars in chips will cost one hundred dollars plus a three dollar service fee. Both will be show up on your bill as separate items. John
bruce-r Posted December 4, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2006 In other words, there is a 3% service charge for any cash advance on the ship.
AndyPanda Posted December 4, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted December 4, 2006 Thanks. I guess I'll just bring cash. 3% is a bit much, especially when you consider how much I play.
GulfCoaster Posted December 4, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2006 You can "gift" yourself or your travel companion by ordering casino chips from Ship Services before your cruise. They come in $10.00 increments. There is no service fee. There will be a certificate in your cabin which you redeem in the Casino at the casino cage. You may be asked to show ID (passport, drivers license) along with your ship ID when you redeem it. They will ask you how you would like it - you can get chips or coin. We do this every cruise and that way I know what the "gambling budget" is going to be even before I walk on the ship, plus I have pre-paid it and if I should win for a change - so much the better!!! Pete Jackson Posted December 4, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 4, 2006 Another option is to use your ATM card in ports where you can get US$ at the machines. There will still be a charge, but probably less than 3%. Overall, it makes more sense to anticipate your casino budget and bring enough cash or trav chex with you on the cruise.
