  1. Yesterday while surfing the HAL website, there was a FCC in my wife's account for the three full days that she was isolated due to Covid. It took a while but she now has the credit for the May, 2023 cruise.
  2. As stated it is going into dry dock, I was booked on the Transatlantic during those dates and the booking was canceled by HAL.
  3. Once released after the five days, there were no restrictions. It was recommended that we both mask but that was it. Basically, the same recommendation that is given to all passengers.
  4. CafeBruno, Thank you for the information and it is clear that the way Covid is being treated continues to evolve. It did not appear that there was much of an issue on this cruise with people contracting Covid, much different than our February cruise to Hawaii where you saw many more food trays left outside cabins.
  5. On a recent cruise (ending in June) my wife self tested-for Covid and had a positive result, it was then confirmed by the medical staff that she had Covid and she was isolated for five days. After that, we were able to enjoy the remainder of the cruise. Under the HAL Travel Well program, it appears that one is entitled to a FCC for the time spent in isolation. Before reaching out to HAL, I thought i would ask members of this board if anyone has any recent experience or knowledge whether HAL is still offering the FCC for the days in isolation. For those interested, my wife was confined to our cabin. She was tested once to determine that she had Covid (for which we were charged by medical), underwent no further testing and was released after five days based upon her statement to medical that she felt fine. I had no symptoms. I was never tested by medical and shared our original cabin with her during the isolation. I was told that I need not isolate. Thank you, in advance, for any information you are able to provide on the FCC. John
  6. To me, it does not matter who adds the restrictions, be it HAL or AMEX, the end result is the same. You will not receive the AMEX credit when purchasing OBC. My memory is that some past offers limited to bookings only but you also received the credit for OBC. The review by AMEX was not as careful to determine eligibility.
  7. Nho9504 is correct. Purchased OBC of $1,000.00 for a January cruise several days ago and have not received any credit from AMEX. AMEX has added new restrictions and appears able to distinguish between purchasing OBC and cruise fares.
  8. This one was my fault, I booked online directly with HAL and only realized it when I transferred it to the big box and their representative pointed it out.
  9. Apparently I missed it. I did not mean to imply otherwise. I only meant to indicate that it can be missed. I guess you do not have that issue but thanks for pointing out my failure.
  10. I have a few cruises book and one of them is non-refundable. I have no idea how I ended up with a non-refundable fare either. It is not something that I would normally miss.
  11. Yes, you are correct, they would not be part of the crew involved in the tip pool.
  12. If you give any cash tips to any crew member, he or she is obligated to determine if you also kept the prepaid amount in place. If you did, then the tip may be kept by the crew member. If you eliminated or reduced the automatic tip amount, the crew member is obligated to add that tip to the general tip pool. I would assume any small tip given to the bar staff or room service deliver during the cruise is exempt from this requirement.
  13. I will give it a try. Thank all of you for the information.
  14. Hi, the above email address bounced back. Is it the correct address? John
  15. Hi, I am having trouble with the HAL Accounting Department over the return of a prepaid hotel service charge on a cruise they canceled so that the ship could be used to house Ukrainian refugees. HAL is claiming they returned it as part of the refund of the cruise fare. My math indicates this is not the case, the hotel service charge is still owed. It was paid separately on-line by me. All the other prepaid charges, such as specialty dinners and HAL tours that I paid were returned individually to my credit card. They are unwilling to review the figures with me. I would like to forward all the pertinent information to the Office of the President for further review. Would someone provide me with the email address for the President's office. Thank you. John
