Help from people who know the Golden

We've been on the Star Princess and twice on the Diamond Princess. The question is does the ocean view rooms have a deck with people walking by your room on the Emerald deck of the Golden Princess? I think I remember that configuration from our trip on the Star. We did the Diamond Princess last summer and had alot on privacy with how the oceanview rooms sit above the deck where everyone walks. Would Plaza deck work better for privacy on the Golden? Thanks in Advance, Deb Q

I don't know if there are oceanviews with "obstructed views" on the Emerald deck. I can tell you that I was on the Plaza deck and did not have this problem, in fact, we had a nice view of what you are supposed to see from an oceanview cabin: the ocean. Our room was P233 and we were relatively close to the stairs / elevators (which meant seconds from the casino / players bar / show lounge, which is one floor above). It was still quiet even though we were close to all of this action. Also, you needed to walk through the art gallery to get from our room to the lobby (centrum) which I really liked. Our dining room was directly on our floor at the other end of the ship, and we also had a laundromat nearby.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Hmmm, it's been a few years since we've been on the Golden but it seems like from the outside of the Promenade deck as you walked up near the front you could see into a couple of the cabins. Maybe these were BE or BF or maybe E cabins? I don't remember. But I think I remember passing people while they were on their balcony and we walked from the Promenade deck up to the Emerald deck.

Yes .. they have the same configuration. The windows are tinted and up high. I am 6'5'' and I could not "look in". ;) If some one was standing at the window, at night with the cabin light on... then maybe you could see something.

Never stayed in those rooms but have walked by them on a number of Grand class ships.

Note in the attached picture: The left most life boat has the stairs mentioned above that you walk up from the promenade to emerald deck. You walk past the first (foremost) lifeboat, zig zag and walk in front of the balcony cabins to the "N" in Golden, up some more steps and on to the bow of the ship. (Note how high the windows are... those are the ones I mentioned even I cannot look into.

Just noticed if you look right above the "O" and "L" in Golden you can see two people in front of the balcony rooms walking along the deck. :)

I see those two people. It LOOKS like there is no barrier between them and the ocean. Is this a work ledge or where passengers walk? Maybe this is the Princess 30 meter high dive!!!!

It is the passenger's walk to the bow. The reason it looks like there is no barrier is because the railing is "rails" This picture I took on the Grand (which is the same for the Golden) shows that part of the "walk" in front of the balcony cabins (just about were those people in the Golden picture are).
