OK, who understands WMS?

I think that the Princess article is describing 802.11b/g wireless network capabilities on board their ships, and not internet data (such as Cingular's EDGE service) via a cellular data signal. Even though these both provide "wireless" internet, they are not the same thing..

802.11x is what you will find in some home routers to give your home network wireless capability.

Cellular data (such as Cinglular's Edge) is a data signal sent out by your cell phone company. You need a data (internet) capable cell phone or special wireless card from your cellular provider). This does not use 802.11x technology.

I always thought that "WMS" available on board some ships was only voice service using your normal cell phone, and does not include data (such as Cingular's EDGE). Maybe somebody else can correct me on this.

Thank you for contacting T-Mobile with your inquiry. My name is ... and I am here to help with your T-Mobile related question. We value you and your business!

I understand that you are inquiring about the costs of using your handset while on a Cruise Ship. I can certainly understand the need for this billing information for clarification on roaming and other charges associated. I would be more than happy to assist you with this today as I want to ensure that we help you in finding a solution.

Calls placed while visiting ports will be billed at the WorldClass rate for the country you are roaming in. Text messaging while roaming on cruise ships is billed the same as international text messages for a charge of $0.15. Roaming with Cingular Wireless and MCP is available to WorldClass rate customers for $4.99 per minute while on selected Cruise Lines. I have reviewed the Cruise Lines that we use to roam with for Cruise Line service and I am unable to see Princess Cruise Lines on that list.

If you would like to use your handset on the cruise, you can make a call and we can tell you the cost associated. We can also inform you of roaming charges for each place that you may be visiting if you would like to send us a list.

To call T-Mobile's International Customer Care number just dial +1-505-998-3793 from your T-Mobile handset. Keep in mind that if you call this number from a T-Mobile handset you will not be charged for roaming airtime or long distance. However, additional charges, such as country connection fees, may still apply. You can also call from a landline: (IDD Code) 1-505-998-3793. Long distance charges will occur when calling from a landline.

I received this:

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile via email. My name is ..., and I will be happy to help you today. You contacted us regarding information on the Grand Princess cruise line. I can understand the desire to clarify this information before you make a decision on using your handset while on vacation; I will definitely research your roaming inquiries today.

I have reviewed our systems and see that previous representatives have clarified that T-Mobile does not have a partnership with this particular cruise line at this time; keep in mind that we are always expanding our services!

If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to reply to this e-mail quoting the case number in the subject line, contact our Customer Care department at 1-800-937-8997, or dial 611(SEND) from your T-Mobile handset. Our Customer Care representatives are available 24 hours per day to provide world class service for all your T-Mobile needs.

Id like to take the time to thank you for choosing T-Mobile; I see that youve been a valued customer since June 18, 2003. It has been my pleasure providing you with world class customer service; we appreciate your loyalty and business.
