torybruno Posted December 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2006 From what I've read, I think I have found 3 main companies that offer this excursion...Belize Cruise Excursions, Belize Cruise Tours, and Nacho and Cynthia. Has anyone put time into researching this and found out what the main differences are? And which did you end up booking, and were you happy with the tour? Bubblez Posted December 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2006 Personally we used Belize Cruise Excursions AKA X-Stream, and they were fabulous. Our guide was JP and he wonderful. We choose them because them guarenteed small groups and operator right out of the secure area of the port so we didn\'t have to leave the gated area to find them. We\'ve used this company two times in Belize, once for cave tubing only and then onces for the double tour. Good luck with your decision.
abitaturbodog Posted December 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2006 I was like you and did lots of research for the Zipline/Cave Tubing excursion. I picked Nacho and Cynthia because they had the best reputation on these boards and I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID~ There were only 7 of us and we had an amazing, private, exciting and relaxing excursion. Nacho and Cynthia were waiting for us with a sign a few steps out of the terminal and escorted us to a private van stocked with water bottles and with powerful air conditioning! We had a wonderful tour of Belize City and the countryside as we drove to Jaguar's Paw Resort for the ziplining and cave tubing. Nacho is a knowledgable guide and Cynthia is a very safe driver! Because we had a small, private tour we didn't have to wait for other cruisers to join us! We arrived at the Zip Lining facility ahead of all of the cruise tours and X-tream and had the place to ourselves. When we were leaving, we passed the big groups from X-tream and the Norwegian ship standing in a long line line.THANK YOU NACHO & CYNTHIA! We hopped back in the van and they drove us up a huge hill and into the rainforest to begin the cave tubing adventure. (X-tream and the cruise tours make you walk up and down this monstrous hill carrying the tube!!!) We had a 20 minute walk to the cave entrance. For the trip down the river, we had our our own personal guides, Pedro and Cynthia. We hooked our feet together and the guides did all of the paddling for us! We just sat back and relaxed.... The only time we had to paddle for ourselves was when we hit the "rapids", but our guides walked ahead and linked us up again after we were thru them. THANK YOU NACHO & CYNTHIA! Afterward, we had a delicious meal in the restaurant at the resort (included in the price!) and headed back to the port. We had about an hour to do some shopping in the market and pick up souveniers. (I read that the group that booked with X-tream barely made it back to the ship in time for the last tender, and didn't have time to shop or eat.--11/26 Miracle sailing) I would recommed Nacho and Cynthia to anyone who is interested in a tour in Belize. They offer all types of tours and are very professional and fun. We were physically tired from our day, but also relaxed. Nacho and Cynthia took care of every detail and allowed us to unwind and enjoy the excursion. If you want their website, or have any other questions let me know... --Jennifer PS--Tell them I said HI! mistikal Posted December 20, 2006 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2006 We contacted Jaguar Paw Jungle Resort for our cave tubing and zipline tours. All arrangements were made in advance and our tour went perfectly. Since we were a party of 20 we also got a really great deal.
jdarcy Posted December 20, 2006 #10 Share Posted December 20, 2006 Nacho and Cynthia were waiting for us with a sign a few steps out of the terminal and escorted us to a private van stocked with water bottles and with powerful air conditioning! We had a wonderful tour of Belize City Great stuff abitaturbodog...we have booked with Nacho and cynthia as well based mostly on the research I have done. Zip line and Cave tubing. I have recieved some great email responses from Nacho on where to meet, what to bring etc..(best email responses I have ever recieved from any tour operator...funny and professional) ......but he did stress that there would be 3 Cruise ships in Port that day and it would be important to try to be on the first tender off the Ship because they all use the same zipline facility.... Does anyone have any advice with how to go about doing that?
crusinpsychRN Posted December 20, 2006 #11 Share Posted December 20, 2006 Went with XStream--had no time for lunch (9:30am to 4:00pm) and almost missed the ship. Had fun but didn't like the XStream anxiety of being so late getting back to ship.
floridagirl23 Posted December 20, 2006 #12 Share Posted December 20, 2006 Can somewhere explain about hooking your feet together during the cave tubing? What does that mean? I don't think I want someone I don't know to have their feet hooked to mine or to my tube. I could see tubes hooked together, but feet? Also does anyone have the website address of where you can tell what other ships are going to be in port at the same time. Thanks.
crusinpsychRN Posted December 21, 2006 #13 Share Posted December 21, 2006 We didn't "hook" feet to arms but saw several groups going down river with the first in line holding the ankles of the person behind them and so on. I don't think they did it the whole way as lots of arm paddling is required in places and it's very shallow, therefore "butts up" time also. I'm with you, I don't want to be holding anyone I don't know!

You can booked directly with Jaguar Paw. www.jaguarpaw.com. Four of us went last year for $100.00 each and did the tubing and ziplines and had a great lunch at the resort between the two. The guides were great and we had a blast!
sstephy Posted February 5, 2007 #15 Share Posted February 5, 2007 Hi Jennifer, We're booked with Nacho and Cynthia in April. From what I can tell your tour ends depending on the time you were able to get out of the port area and to the Jaguar's Paw Resort for the tour. Any tips on how you got off of the ship quickly and were able to make your way to Nacho and Cynthia to get started quickly. We want to enjoy the day and not worry about timing and be rushed and any info you can give me is greatly appreciated. sstephy Posted February 9, 2007 #18 Share Posted February 9, 2007 Hi Paula, I've talked to 2 tour company operators on the phone and both have said that zipline takes at least 45 minutes, the drive to and from the jungle takes an hour each way, and the cavetubing takes anywhere from 1-2.5 hrs depending on how many caves you go thru and how fast the water is running and how many people are on the water at the time. Lunch is about 30+ minutes depending on the size of your group and whether you're in a hurry to get back to the ship or not. One operator leaves the lunch decision up to his guests and if they want to get back to the ship they don't stop for it. :) Apparently there is only ONE zipline area in Belize and EVERYONE uses it. All the cruise line excursions, the private operators, etc. So, there can be backups and waiting at this part of the tour. Hope the info helps. Have a great cruise. :) Steph Has Anyone Used ************* Dot Bravehost Dot Com? I Seen Some Rave Reviews About Them On Other Sites. gracie65 Posted March 1, 2007 #19 Share Posted March 1, 2007 Cruising again in August & I just booked the zipline with Nacho & Cynthia based on the reviews here. I didn't add the cave tubbing as we will have our son with us & didn't want to wear him out, plus Belize is our only stop to have the desiginer knock off purses so had to allow some shopping time for those. Thanks for all the advise everyone has given. I am normally leary to try some excursions on our own in certain places, Belize being one of them, but the reviews were reassuring. Our son is 7 & 56 inches tall. They have to be 8 with the cruise zipline tour.

sstephy Posted March 2, 2007 #21 Share Posted March 2, 2007 Hi Gracie, Please do tell the details on the designer purses in Belize. We're doing the cavetubing in April and our time to shop will be limited, but if you can give me hint on where to go to find them it would save me mucho time and probably money, too. I don't anticipate more than an hour to shop after tubing and any info would be greatly appreciated. :) Cruising again in August & I just booked the zipline with Nacho & Cynthia based on the reviews here. plus Belize is our only stop to have the desiginer knock off purses so had to allow some shopping time for those. gracie65 Posted March 2, 2007 #22 Share Posted March 2, 2007 sstephy: Go to the third page of The Belize thread you will see a thread titled Designer Knock Off Purses. It says they are at The Tourism Village which is at the port. I have found them in Nassau, St. Thomas, San Juan & Aruba so I am hoping the prices are as good & the selection is as good. You can't tell the difference. If you buy a lot stagger them throughout your luggage. You'lll see many other hints on the other thread.

sstephy Posted March 5, 2007 #24 Share Posted March 5, 2007 Thanks gracie! Your tips and advice are great. I know where I'll be when the rest of my group is getting wet cavetubing. :D Have you shopped in Belize City or is this your first visit? Just wondering if you know how far into the Tourism Village the shops are located or will I not have a problem locating them? I'm not really a 'shopper' and generally walk right past wht I'm looking for. I want to make sure I don't overlook anything or know if what I'm looking for would bite me if I was standing close enough. :) Thanks again for the info. It's one I'll definitely take advantage of. Steph sstephy: I have only been to Belize once & did not know about the purses then. I would recommend an excursion th this port & shop when you return. There is not much in the city & it's pretty dingy. Based on the other thread I mentioned it sounds like the Tourism Village is right near the pier. Did you scroll down the Belize thread for the heading I mentioned? I can tell you where to go in Nassau, St. Thomas, Aruba & San Juan.
