Check in time in NYC

We're scheduled to leave NYC on the Dawn on 1/7/07. NCL informs us that check-in begins at 2 pm but I know from past cruises (out of other ports) that they may allow us to check in earlier. We have a 14-month old and would like to avoid waiting in the cold too long. Can anyone suggest, from past experience, the earliest possible check in time?

Thanks.

We left two times from NYC with the ship leaving at 4PM. We got there at 10:30 and waited in the Latitudes lounge upstairs and were on the ship before noon.

Have a great trip!!

Thanks for the info. Do you have to be a Latitudes member to stay in the lounge? This is our first time cruising with NCL.

It was our first time in August and we got there at 11:00. They had seats with coffee and danish in the main waiting area. We were on the ship at about 12:30 and the rooms were ready at 2. You can get on the ship walk around a little and have lunch. After lunch you can then go to your room.
