Ft Lauderdale near pier

I am confused with the Ft Lauderdale area near the pier, we will be driving, so a shuttle is not necessary, but if I use priceline or hotwire, which areas do I bid on to be near the pier, have cruise many times out of Miami, but new to Fort Lauderdale, need a hotel on January 20th and cant seem to find much under $200. was going to bid on one. Thanks

On PL, 4* downtown was typically the Renaissance and 4* beach zone was the Hyatt Pier 66. Both are on 17th Street just minutes from the port.
