CrusinAgain Posted December 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2006 Is Carlos O Briens the same as Carlosn Charlies in Puerto Vallarta? Which one out of the three is the closest to the ship and is it too far to walk or do you have to take a taxi? Thanks to all who can answer anything. gottago2mexico Posted December 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2006 All the Grupo Anderson's restaurants are pretty much the same. If you've been to Carlos N Charlie's you pretty much know what to expect from Senor Frogs and Carlos O'Brian's. Both are pretty much the same, and are only a few blocks from each other - you can easily walk from one to the other and check them both out if you want. They're located downtown, so you'll want to take a taxi from the pier - about ten minutes and 60 pesos in the yellow taxis. Very easy.

What is the difference between the colors of taxis? And yes, I was hoping Senor Frogs and Carlos O'Brians is like Carlos N Charlies.
gottago2mexico Posted December 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2006 When you first exit the marina, you'll see the white taxis there. These are more expensive. Just take a left and walk up the street a little ways toward the highway, and you'll see where all the yellow taxis are sitting, just outside the gates to the marina. Walk up there (just a minute or so), and take the yellows to save $$. The white taxis are officially authorized to pick up at the marina - the yellow taxis are regular city taxis and are not authorized, so they sit just outside the gates waiting for savvy travelers. In town, you'll only see yellow taxis.

San Diego Cruzer Posted December 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2006 Re the taxis - make sure to confirm/negotiate the rate before you get into the taxi. The taxis (yellow) are supposed to charge you by zone. But I always think it is a good idea to confirm the price before you drive off. There are also many clubs/bars/restaurants in the same area - take a walk downtown along the Malecon and check them out. You might find something you like better than Carlos n Charlies.
