CruiseCATnMACK Posted December 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2006 I've booked my 10th cruise on Carnival and on my history they are missing my very first so I'm working on getting that taken care of with pictures. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to hear stories of how it was many years ago. My first cruise was on the Carnivale. The comedians were very funny and the deck games included beer drinking and pillow fights. The funniest thing ever was the Men's Sexy Nightie Contest. Here are a couple pics from that cruise. Donna n Francis Posted December 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2006 I'm doing the same thing.....they are missing my first 5 Carnival Cruises....it's been fun looking at the pictures, comparing what I used to wear:eek: when I took my first cruise to what I wear now on a cruise. I still have my little gold handbag:p. I remember the Mens Nighgown Contest and the Pillow Fights on the Pole but do you remember the Toga Parties:D
jeanne_stein Posted December 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2006 One game I played on one of my early cruises (and I've never seen since)... they tossed a bunch of ping pong balls into the pool and 3 or 4 girls in bikinis jumped in and have to stuff as many as they could into the bikini. Then get out of the pool and stand on a platform and pull them out one by one while everyone watched. I won a ship on a stick for 29 ping pongs balls that I some how stuffed into my suit. :)
MelBCroozer Posted December 11, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2006 What do you have to do to get credit for those earlier cruises? My DH and I were on the Tropicale in '85 and the Festivale in '87. We have our embarkation pictures. I would appreciate more info on this. If we could get credit for those first 2 cruises, we will be on cruises 9 and 10 this coming year!! I'd appreciate the info.
OceanDreamin Posted December 11, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2006 We have our embarkation pictures. Mel, the embarcation pictures should do the trick! I called customer service about how to get credit for my 1984 cruise on the Tropicale (my first cruise as a teenager, with my parents and my brother). One of the things that they said was that I could send in the embarcation picture (which unfortunately my parents did not buy), along with a copy of current picture ID. Just call Carnival's Customer Service and ask them where you should send the picture, and what if any documentation you need to accompany it. Good luck! BooBooMonkey Posted December 11, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2006 I was on Carnivale with my parents when I was about 12 years old. I remember the pillow fights on deck. I think they put some slippery substance on the pole or whatever you were sitting on to make it easier to knock someone off. It seems like every night was formal night...am I remembering that correctly? Also, they used to let kids in the casino. I remember my brother picking a nickel or dime up off the floor and putting it into a slot machine and winning. We went to San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Marten, out of Miami. Camp Carnival was non-existant, although they did have some organized activities for kids. I remember spending a lot of time in an unsupervised playroom on sea days. Some things have changed for the better! I always wondered about getting credit for that first cruise. I have pictures of us shaking hands with the captain at the Captain's reception I'm assuming. Thanks for the info, and the memories!
LHP Posted December 11, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 11, 2006 When my BIL got married, hubby had a "Men's Night Gown contest" photo of the BIL (close up of BIL only) framed and gave it to his fiancee' at the Rehearsal dinner. It was hilarious!!!! They went all out back then!
victory2020 Posted December 11, 2006 #8 Share Posted December 11, 2006 I remember that you could bring your own bottle of liquor to the pool area & drink it at your leasure.
habby Posted December 11, 2006 #9 Share Posted December 11, 2006 It seems like every night was formal night...am I remembering that correctly? I always wondered about getting credit for that first cruise. I have pictures of us shaking hands with the captain at the Captain's reception I'm assuming. Thanks for the info, and the memories! Our first two cruises were on the Holiday in 1986 and on the Festivale in 1987. I know the nights weren't all formal but they sure seemed to be. It was definitely like New Year's Eve every night though. We're hoping to find anything to prove that we were on those cruises. Hoping that with an abundance of info regarding each cruise we can get credit. (Sometimes I hate computers!! I mean, why couldn't they have kept all that info on all those cruises in the past filed away somewhere on real paper!!)
