Oxstang Posted December 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2006 My 11 year old son is an arcade game junkie. Does anyone know the cost of arcade games on the Pacific Sun? On our last cruise on the Pacific Sky, after the first day they were free, but we don't know if there was a problem or if this is the norm. It could get pretty expensive otherwise. aussiedisneyfan Posted December 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2006 I think they are $1. Not sure as we didn't really use them. The kids club usually has a time where the take the kids to play for free for an hour or so.
Kazza1 Posted December 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2006 When we went in April 2006 you had to use cash (not cruise card) to buy arcade tokens from a machine. As ADF said, I think it works out to be a $1- a game. The only problem with the arcade centre is it is right next to the VERY smokey casino. We only took the kids there once. Karen That area around the Casino on Pacific Sun was terrible for smoke - and it's certainly one of the worst places on the ship to put the kids arcade games. I barely went into the Casino on Sun because of the smoke. It was bad on Star too, but at least our Cruise on Star, alternate nights were smoke free in the Casino - and boy it made a difference. It was nice to go in there and not have sore eyes and headache from the smoke after 5 minutes. And lots of people thought the same - the smoke free nights were the busiest nights in the Casino. I don't recall seeing Arcade games on Star. Maybe they were in the kids clubs??
Star-Man Posted December 14, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2006 I don't recall seeing Arcade games on Star. Maybe they were in the kids clubs?? None in the kids clubs. The teen center and the in between place had Playstation games. The in between place also had an airhockey table and a foosball table, but they were both free. I thought it was wierd that the Star didnt have any arcade machines.
Whoey Posted December 14, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 14, 2006 We didn't think much of the arcade on Pacific Sun for a few reasons, firstly as mentioned it was smokey 90% of the time. Secondly, the arcade tokens don't go very far - we went through $20 worth in about 10- 12 mins (across 2 kids). Thirdly the games are VERY old - like that Star Wars deathstar game and a few of the older motorbike games.. can't remember them all, but I distinctly recall thinking how old and in poor condition the ones on offer were and I haven't set foot in a modern arcade for proabably 5+ years. If your 11 year old is into the latest games from real arcades, they will probably be very dissapointed by what the ship has to offer. My five year old went straight back to his centre to play the playstation again as it was better (and cheaper!) Sounds like the teen centre might be more appealing ??? Star-Man Posted December 14, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2006 Sounds like the teen centre might be more appealing ??? If you are traveling with teens, on the star at least, make sure they go down to the teen center. Jodie and Sandra do a great job to keep everyone occupied. Heaps of karaoke, movies and other stuff throughout the day. They even do teen only things in Club Bahia on the formal nights after dinner. I hated the idea of going down there when i first cruised, but after my last one when i did see what it was like, i wish id gone down on the first one. If your kids dont want to, find some way to get them there. They will love it.
